Characterful Charming Traditional French Gite . This cottage/gite is in a rural setting.

Chez Blanchet is a charming traditional French property set in a quiet rural hamlet in the Charente. The hamlet is in a peaceful location surrounded by beautiful countryside with the beauty of the local wildlife on your doorstep. The hamlet is 10 minutes away from Aubeterre, a beaux villages (one of the top 100 beautiful villages in France). Aubeterre has a fantastic river beach hosting lots of water activities such as kayaking, canoeing etc. and the pretty village hosts a number of restaurants, cafes, and local artisan shops. The market town of Chalais is only 5kms away. Weekly markets are held in both Chalais and Riberac (15 minutes away).

The gite is sympathetically decorated in line with the rustic style of the property.

Kitchen and dining

It has a traditional open plan country kitchen and dining area with plenty of pans and crockery and a dining table and chairs to accommodate up to 6 people. With a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge-freezer and dishwasher there is everything you need to make your stay at Chez Blanchet comfortable.

Living rooms

The living room has a log burner as its focal point with a comfy 2 seater sofa and arm chair for relaxing around the coffee-table. A day bed also provides an additional seating area. The room is light and airy with a cosy cottage feel to it.


Sympathetically decorated the master bedroom looks out onto views of the open countryside and has a large double wardrobe with plenty of hanging space and shelves.
The double bed is made up with fresh cotton bedding and towels will be provided

The second bedroom has views onto the country lane and fields beyond. It has a further double bed and wardrobe with fresh bedding and towels supplied.


The spacious bathroom hosts a separate walk-in shower, hand basin, bidet and toilet. A washing machine is also available for your convenience.


A log burner is available in the main lounge area but would not be required during the letting period.


Boardgames and cards are available for recreation purposes

Garden and outside

The beautiful west facing terrace is perfect for watching the sun going down on those balmy sunny evenings with a glass of wine. From the patio table you can watch the sky come to life on an evening with the barn owls flying over and the sound of the crickets chirping away .

At the front of the property there is a small patio table ideal for coffee in the morning

The majority of the property is on one level with a step down from the kitchen into the hallway and the hallway into the bedroom so this may need consideration for people with limited mobility

I've had Chez Blanchet for around 18 years now and I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. The rustic 'Frenchness' of it and the tranquillity of the area draws me in every time. Over the years I have enjoyed many summers there with family and friends.

Why this location? The area is so pretty and the beautiful village of Aubeterre is so close by and such a lovely village. You can while away the hours just sitting in the square drinking coffee (or wine).
