About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Jacky Jones

After 24 years working long hours in the banking industry my husband and I decided that it was time to get a life! We always knew that we wanted to live in France when we retired but we decided that life was too short and so moved to France when we were 42 and 45 years old. We were too young to sit and do nothing so we brought our beautiful property and created 4 wonderful gites. Since 2005 we have been sharing our new home with guests from all over the world and enjoying the vie en France!

Year property purchased 2003
Why this location? We stumbled across this beautiful region when a friend brought a holiday home here and invited us to stay.. We loved the old town of Cognac and enjoyed tasting the local produce! The river valley offers a tranquil setting for walks, boat rides and kayaking and if you are looking for the coast we are only 1 hour away. Far enough south to benefit from a warmer climate but still only a days drive from the channel ports.
Unique benefits of property Set in a small village most of our neighbours farm the vines which surround the property and many produce the world famous cognac/brandy. Our property has been converted from one of the old cognac storage barns and retains the exposed white stone walls typical of the region.

The Owner Recommends

Countryside, river, coast and historic towns not forgetting the cognac!

From your base in the centre of the cognac producing region you are free to discover the delights of South West France. Whether you fancy a drive through the beautiful vine covered countryside, a day at the coast, a lazy boat trip on the river Charente or a visit to the historic towns of Cognac, Saintes, Jarnac or Angouleme everything is within easy reach.

Further afield the world renowned cities of Bordeaux, Royan and La Rochelle demand a visit or perhaps the delightful island of Ile de Re will attract your attention.

For the more energetic amongst you, the area is perfect for walking and cycling but we can also offer local centres for kayaking, golf, hot air ballooning, quad biking and water parks.

Full tourist information is provided in your accommodation with suggestions for day trips and places to visit. So whatever your interests there will be something for you.

PS. Don't forget to take one of the tours of the famous 'cognac houses' and of course to sample some of the production!
