Maison du Bonheur our little bit of heaven with a Pool!!
A self contained cottage sharing the 1 acre grounds with the owners house.
A beautiful 8x4 metre swimming pool looks out over the adjoining fields. We are set at the end of a lane in peace and tranquility.
The large, eat-in kitchen leads into a beautiful lounge with wood burning fireplace and plenty of seating. Two spacious double bedrooms, 1 en suite and 1 main bathroom can be found on the main floor. Upstairs, you'll find the third bedroom with panoramic country views.
The grounds have many fruit trees including, apples, pears, plums, peaches, figs, pomegranates and kiwis! There is plenty of room to kick a football, play badminton or boules.
Very private, but the owners are at hand to answer any questions or help. The hosts would like to think when guests are not on the property they would be kind enough to allow the hosts to use the pool.
The newly refurbished well equipped kitchen and dining room includes a dishwasher, cooker with grill, microwave and fridge-freezer. A large kitchen table with ample of room for all to share a meal.
To make sure you enjoy your long lazy French breakfasts, we supply a coffee filter machine and of course a kettle for the tea lovers. The kitchen will always have the essential first morning coffee, tea, sugar and milk so no need to worry about that. If you would also like us to supply the croissants just let us know!
The living room offers a spacious, homely and cosy area with logburner set in a beautiful Charentaise fireplace.
There is plenty of comfortable seating and a flat screen tv with English channels and a dvd player just in case you get tired of sitting around the pool! The windows & frenchdoors look out over the large courtyard area and the garden. In the garden you will find the bbq and outdoor eating area.
Bedroom 1 - The butterfly room is newly decorated to compliment the Charentaise fireplace which is the main feature of this double bedroom. There is plenty of space for a cot if needed. Just 6 steps to the main bathroom.
Bedroom 2 - is the en suite double bedroom. Newly renovated from an old store room with barn doors. These doors are now the shutters and frame the amazing view from the window seat looking across to Bardenac and its church spire. The furniture is a lovely dark wood in original french style which compliments the crisp white paintwork.
Bedroom 3 - leading from the stairs in the living room, has also been newly renovated. This is a twin room, which is great for the children or adults alike. We supply a stairgate at the top and bottom of the stairs.
We have 2 bathrooms both on the ground floor. The main bathroom also has a cupboard that houses the washing machine for your convenience.
The other is the new en suite shower room.

We arrived here in 2018 after many years of never being the right time. They say all things happen for a reason & Maison du Bonheur is that reason.
We both love being in the country with sky and land as our view.
I (Lorraine) enjoy yoga, cooking, peace & experiencing new adventures. My dream has always been to have a retreat where anybody can come and step out of the world.
Nick, my better half loves to cycle and watch rugby. He is the one who keeps my feet on the ground.

|Why this location?||We love the rolling hills reminding us of the best of the UK. Near to airports. Not too far from the coast and ports. So many things to do and see.|
|Unique benefits of property||At the end of a winding lane with no passing traffic apart from the odd tractor. We are surrounded by open fields, full of sunflowers. The views are spectacular. The one acre garden has many fruit trees, including apples, pears, figs, peaches, plums, pomegranates and kiwis!
We have a new 8x4 meter swimming pool with a large terrace overlooking the fields.
Peace, tranquility and our little bit of heaven.
This market is held every Monday morning. In this busy, bustling market you will find local produce, plenty of gift ideas and a choice of local cafes to sit and watch the world go by.
Classified as the prettiest village in The Charente. It is very pretty, with steep winding roads. Many original shops and many restaurants. It has one, of only 2 churches that were built into the rocks in Europe, well worth seeing & enjoying the guided tour.
From the village you can walk down the river where you will find a sandy beach, canoes and safe water to swim in. There is also a good snack bar.
The windmill produces local flour. You can have a tour of the windmill and take a picnic overlooking the beautiful countryside and vineyards.
An hour away, an attractive town near the northern edge of the Dordogne department, sometimes known as the Venice of the Dordogne (slight exaggeration strictly speaking) - the town has a nice mix of medieval and renaissance architecture to admire. The town is classed as one of 'les Plux Beaux Detours' in France.
Many good restaurants to eat at too.
Lovely restaurant, food & owners. You will find it next to the church, with seating outside as well as in. Food is wonderful and they also do Pizza to take away.
About 15 mins drive this restaurant does great food. Need to book as gets very busy in the summer. Has a great terrace. Very child friendly & good prices.
