|Les Chouettes||Self Catering||Saturday||4||10||3|
The property is a large old stone Farmhouse, not sure when it was built, but hundreds of years old.
Large driveway off the small road, enough space for about 4 cars if needed.
Up stone steps to the front door, stepping into a large hallway, off this to the left is the dining room and then kitchen and utility and wc. The lounge is off to the right. Upstairs there are 4 large bedrooms, 2 with en suite and family bathroom.
The property is situated in its own private very large fenced garden with a small private swimming pool.
Trip Advisor review from August 2019:
A fabulous farmhouse with great hosts in a lovely rural location...an amazing place!
We were lucky enough to stay at Les Chouettes last summer and had a great family holiday with our two young children (aged 8 & 6 at the time). The farmhouse is really spacious with lovely exposed brickwork and timbers (just remember to take care with a number of low beams!) Our hosts Debs and Garry were extremely attentive to our every needs and as they live on site they are always on hand should you need advice on where to eat, places to visit or just a chat and a drink!. The kids loved the pool and garden that has an extensive barbecue area and they also loved the Limousin cows in the adjoining fields! There’s loads to do for the children such as a nearby large lake with a well maintained sandy beach, kayaking at Brantome, pedalos and boating at beautiful Confolens and a quirky velo-rail at Roumazieres. We had an absolutely superb holiday at Les Chouettes and will hopefully be returning in the near future.
Large kitchen with all the appliances, the dining area is just off the kitchen seating for at least 10 people and highchairs available on request.
Living room is about 30m² , everything you need to chill out , television dvd player logburner.
There is also a Snug with large patio doors with woodburner too.
Large room with large double bed. En suite with bath, toilet and shower in bath.
Large double room with double bed. This has en suite too with shower and toilet.
Large double bedroom with double bed. The family bathroom is directly opposite.
Again a very large room with bunk beds and 2 single beds (can be made into a double if needed, ask on booking). Family bathroom opposite
There are 3 bathrooms, 2 en suite ( master bedroom and second bedroom) and a family bathroom with bath, shower and wc.
There is also a downstairs wc.
Central heating and logburners.
The garden is very large suitable for children, lots of space for running around, fenced and private.
There is a small private swimming pool and large terrace, dining for at least 10 people.
There is a extensive driveway with parking for about 4 cars if needed.
The property is very old. There are plenty of beams which are quite low, mainly upstairs, so need to be cautious of these.
Being an old property there are steps up and or down into some of the rooms.
Not all the doorways would be suitable for wheel chairs.
We moved to France in 2005 with our 2 girls and haven't looked back. The girls both went into mainstream school and Garry and I renovated our farm house where we have lived for the last 10 years renovating the gite too, just opposite.

|Why this location?||We chose this property due to its proximity to the town of Chabanais and the airport in Limoges. We are also situated near Angoulême, a wonderful ancient typically french city, Bordeaux is only 1.5hrs away. Cognac only 1 hour away, so well situated for some great places to visit.
Le Mastizon is only 10 minutes from the Lacs de Haute Charente, where you will find beaches, swimming and water sports.
The town of Chabanais has boulongerie, boucherie, bars, restaurants all within a 10 minute walk.
The property is situated in the farmland of a chateau and was infact the farmhouse for the farm of the famous Limousin cattle, of which are still breed at the chateau today, so plenty of cows to be seen.
|Unique benefits of property||Rural, but within walking distance of a town, so the best of both worlds. Plenty of places to visit. The coast only max 2 hours away.|
Le hôtel le Barriere
Le Vieux moulin
The Lacs de haute Charente are only 10 minute drive and have all water sports available.
Beaches and childs playground together with a great beach bar.
Massignac Adventure Park, a great day out with the children of all ages , swing in the trees, zip wires.
