La Maison des Grands Bambous looks forward to welcoming you to our extremely comfortable and well-apointed bedrooms with excellent mattresses, bedside lamps, clock radio, hair dryer and tea/coffee making facilities. We can offer 2 en suite rooms (a double and a twin) and 2 with shared facilities also a double and a twin. Out of high season we can offer extra rooms located in 2 of our gites.
Breakfast is included and consists of the following:
Freshly squeezed orange and grapefruit juice, home made jams and marmalade and boiled eggs. Yogurts and warm bread and croissants from the local bakery. Coffee (regular or decaffinated) or tea (regular or fruit).
If you would like to dine with us, please let us know by 10 o'clock that morning. Meals are served either in the elegant dining room or on the terrace, or by the pool depending on time of year and weather conditions.
Any allergies, dietary requirements or dislikes should be highlighted on our Booking Form.
We are ideally located for touring or house hunting in the Cognac region and golfing breaks.
Should you need help or advice on purchasing or renovating property, you only have to ask. We can also help with local artisans.
Breakfast is included in the room rate. Table d'hôte dining is available and may be booked in advance or before 10am on the day of dining.
Please note that the kitchen and appliances are not available to B&B guests.

We are open all year, including Christmas and New Year, and are ideal for short breaks. We can house groups of up to 16, fully catered if preferred, B&B, table d'hote dinners using fruit and vegetables from the garden and local produce.

Only 90 minutes away this World Heritage Site is a must if you have the time. International shops, wonderful buildings, culture, restaurants, wine and pavement cafes.
The homes of the international cognac houses - Hennessy, Remy Martin, Martell Otard and Courvoisier, plus many other less well known brands.
Hundreds (literally) of cognac and pineau producers to choose from in the area. Tasting is free and you can choose your favourite to take home. Pineau is grape juice with eau de vie added and then matured in barrels for no less than 18 months.
Beaches are 50-70 minutes drive away and provide a wonderful day out.
A visit is not to be missed for history, the aquarium, excellent restaurants, boat trips to Fort Boyard and Ile d'Aix

Marennes and Ile d'Oleron - the centre of the oyster and mussel culture. Best seafood found at Fouras - go to the fish market, armed with a tray from the bar opposite the market and order your oysters to be opened from one of the stalls, buy your shrimps, prawns, whelks, winkles, crab and langoustines ready to eat and the bar will provide the lemon, butter bread and your drinks - all at a fraction of the cost at a restaurant.
The first Monday in the month is the enormous street market in Saintes. The 27th of each month is the very large market in Rouillac, including livestock The first Friday in the months sees the market/fair in Matha.
