Le Pineau located in the poolside courtyard is a perfect gite for a family or group of friends. The spacious gite has an open plan kitchen overlooked by the mezzanine lounge. The 2 bedrooms are a very good size with plenty of storage for all your belongings. Just leading from the dining area is the main bedroom with a wooden framed king sized bed. The triple room with 3 single beds is on the first floor with access via a staircase within the main bedroom. There is an en suite toilet off the triple room with hand basin. The main bathroom is downstairs with shower, toilet and basin. The patio doors lead out to an area with wooden garden table and chairs along with a stone bbq.
The open plan kitchen is fully-fitted with the items that you may need during your stay:
Cooker and hob, fridge with freezer section, washing machine and dishwasher, coffee-machine and toaster and lots of crockery and cutlery. In the dining area is a large wooden table with benches.
The mezzanine lounge has:
Soft seating for 5 people, flat screen television and dvd player.
Please note there are sloping ceilings in this lounge.
Bedroom 1 on the ground floor has a wooden framed king sized bed, tiled flooring and the traditional Charentaise stone walls.
Bedroom 2 on the first floor has 3 single beds, wooden flooring and traditional Charentaise stone walls.
Both bedrooms have storage. The triple room is accessed by a staircase in the ground floor bedroom.
The main bathroom is on the ground floor and has a shower, hand basin and toilet. On the first floor just off the triple room is another toilet and hand basin.
We are have selection of books in the gite for both adults and children. An extensive dvd library and a selection of games for both children and adults are also available - please just ask and we will show you what we have.
In the hangar area you will find a football table, table tennis table and swing ball available for all our guests to use.
During certain months of the year we hold wine tasting evenings - this is where we ask one of the local Vineyards to come along and give you the chance to try their products - don't worry if you can't speak French we are always there to translate.
Have you ever felt like learning to scuba dive? Well now could be your chance as during certain months of the year we have a qualified PADI instructor who comes along and gives anyone from the age of 5 upwards the chance to experience scuba diving in a pool environment.
Le Pineau is 1 of 5 gites set in 2 acres of walled grounds surrounded by fields of vines and various crops. You have your own stone bbq and patio for al fresco dining. The salt water heated pool is fenced/gated for safety. Overlooking the pool is a large sun patio where you can relax on a sunbed and enjoy the sunshine. In the grounds we have combined swing/slide comprising of 2 play frames one for the smaller children. A game of the very popular Boules ('Petanque' as the French call it) is a must on the boules pitch...many of our guests have set up matches with each other during their stay. Don't worry we can help with the rules and we have all the equipment that you may need. Just a couple of minutes from us is the village tennis court - again we have the equipment for you borrow. The hangar offers a great place for the kids to play and offers shade from the heat for everyone. We have a few bikes available for you, this is a great place to cycle around and explore.
Les Vieilles Ombres is suitable for everybody including families with small children. For those who just want to relax in the peace and quiet of the Charentaise countryside then you can or should you wish for a holiday doing both then this is the perfect area to visit as there is plenty to do all around us. There is something for everyone......
We have a bread lady that delivers everyday except Sunday/Monday. The local town of Matha is just a 4 minute drive and has a variety of shops and a weekly market.
All gites are non-smoking.
Linen and towels provided except for beach/pool towels - these can be hired from us on request.

|Unique benefits of property||We have a very tall walled garden which is fully safe for children to play in - We also have a heated pool. We are in a French village with tennis courts, Football pitches etc and only a short walk to Matha for wonderful restaurants, supermarkets and other shops.|
This can either be done in one of the well known Cognac Houses like Remy Martin or Martel or in one of the smaller local suppliers. All are more than willing to open their doors to you and discuss their products and let you sample a glass or two.
The town of La Rochelle is steeped in history and is well worth a visit. The Aquarium is fabulous and the children will love it; Visit one of their many museums or just wander through the cobbled streets exploring all the shops and the individual boutiques. Sit along the quayside in one of the many restaurants and enjoy some of the local specialities. Hop on a boat across to one of the islands like Ile D'Oléron or Ile d'Aix which is only accessible by boat and no cars are allowed here except for designated vehicles. Ile de Ré is accessible by a bridge not far from La Rochelle centre.
A town steeped in art & history. This beautiful town set on the River Charente was once the capital of the Roman province of Aquitaine in the 1st century. There are museums, superb churches and a Roman Amphitheatre that all should be on your 'to visit' list if you like history. Take a boat cruise along the Charente and enjoy some wonderful scenery. Wander through the shops or sample one of their many restaurants....a lovely day out.
