Cognac & Pineau Tasting

This can either be done in one of the well known Cognac Houses like Remy Martin or Martel or in one of the smaller local suppliers. All are more than willing to open their doors to you and discuss their products and let you sample a glass or two.

La Rochelle

The town of La Rochelle is steeped in history and is well worth a visit. The Aquarium is fabulous and the children will love it; Visit one of their many museums or just wander through the cobbled streets exploring all the shops and the individual boutiques. Sit along the quayside in one of the many restaurants and enjoy some of the local specialities. Hop on a boat across to one of the islands like Ile D'Oléron or Ile d'Aix which is only accessible by boat and no cars are allowed here except for designated vehicles. Ile de Ré is accessible by a bridge not far from La Rochelle centre.

A town steeped in art & history. This beautiful town set on the River Charente was once the capital of the Roman province of Aquitaine in the 1st century. There are museums, superb churches and a Roman Amphitheatre that all should be on your 'to visit' list if you like history. Take a boat cruise along the Charente and enjoy some wonderful scenery. Wander through the shops or sample one of their many restaurants....a lovely day out.

Zoo Palmyre

One of the best zoos in Europe located near Royan and well worth a visit
