We had a peaceful week in July at Les Volets Bleus. The property was accurately described. We liked Meschers with its lovely beach. As the weather was very good we were able to spend a lot of time outside.

The property is ideal for couples or a family.

The cottage is on the edge of a small village which has everything you need there, a well stocked Co op, a couple of boulangeries, boucherie, and a bank. The cottage is a little dated but you will find it clean and has everything you need! There is lots of room, my girls loved having a tv in their room even though it was all in French! The shower is lovely and there is a separate utility room to do your washing. There is parking on the drive, a large garden with fruit trees and a shed where you can find the BBQ. The location is very quiet but within 10 minutes you are in the village and a slightly longer walk/drive takes you down to the port which has a couple of bars, and restaurants to check out. Royan is about 30 minutes away which is a bit more lively. The owners know a British family who live near by who checked in with us which was useful.
We had a fantastic stay here and it was great value for money too!

We have stayed in better Gites, but considering the money we paid it was good value for money so no complaints really.

We did have a few initial problems but these were sorted out by an English couple who live in the village.

The weather was great which helped, it was in a nice location and a nice garden to laze about in.

In answer to the questions below, my replies are in the same order as asked.

Yes
No as clean as we would have hoped, no real issues though, was mentioned to English couple in village.

By the sea, nice restaurants and bars, good walks and not too far from places like Cognac

Owner response

Dear Mike,
We are sorry you didn't find the house as clean as you hoped.
You should have talked about it to Ms Lay when she gave you the key.
All the tenant need to let the house clean and tidy, if not, someone clean behind them.
We are happy to see that you had great holiday and you enjoyed the place.
Take Care
