Le Cadran Solaire (the "sundial") is a beautiful 19th century farmhouse located in the Charente Maritime, sleeping 10 people comfortably. It is a longère-style farmhouse, converted out of what was originally 3 cottages. It is located on the edge of a tiny hamlet within 1km of the village of St Hilaire de Villefranche, in the centre of the triangle of St Jean d' Angely, Cognac and Saintes, close to all the major attractions of the Charente Maritime. It is south-facing with views over open farmland and is a quiet and tranquil setting.
Our farmhouse has a well-appointed kitchen with everything you would need to cater for a large group. There is an indoor dining area with seating for ten, as well as two outdoor terraces for dining out.
The property has a huge lounge with plenty of room for everyone
There are 5 spacious bedrooms (4 doubles and 1 twin). Each room is individually styled and beautifully furnished.
There are 2 bathrooms, each with showers (the upstairs bathroom has a combined bath and shower).
The house has a wood burning stove with convection air flows to the upstairs of the house. In addition, each room has electric radiators.
The lounge is equipped with a large tv, a dvd player (with USB optionality) and an English-speaking satellite service. There is also free broadband available.
The garden and pool area are south-facing and get the sun all day. There is a large terrace area with built-in barbecue for dining out, and an in-ground pool (8m x 3m) with its own terracing and plenty of sunloungers. The rest of the garden is mainly laid to lawn with a number of fruit trees providing shade. There are two wells and four little outbuildings. The house is enclosed on all sides and is not overlooked by neighbours.
