We have lots of excellent reviews.
The moment we arrived and were shown our little 2 bed gite we were delighted with our choice. 'The cute rustic cottage for our 2 week stay was a joy. The French ladies who deal with the cleaning etc were lovely, happy and friendly. Even though the weather was changeable for the first 10 days we had a great holiday in this beautiful area of France. There is so much to see and do. The grounds and the little gardens for each gite and the pool are lovely and excellent for children being very secure with gates and a high wall. I cannot recommend it highly enough and we were quite sad to leave. The family who own the chateau and gites are a lovely family and we were lucky enough to meet them.

About the Owner/Advertiser, Ms Catherine Broughton

We bought this property totally derelict in 1995. Picture shows me holding one of my grandsons !

Year property purchased 1995
Why this location? It has an excellent climate and is close to beaches.
Unique benefits of property Excellent for children and families, secure, close to beaches and not too far to drive from England.

The Owner Recommends

Beaches, water sports, zoo, golf, Historic towns.

Zoo, beaches, historic towns, markets, sea food. There are many beaches in the area including a giant lagoon ideal for kids and beaches with forest walks. Many cycle paths in the area, loads of sea food restaurants, markets in most towns and "brocante" markets most week ends. The area has many Roman and Napoleonic buildings and fortifications with a lot of history from the second world war. There is a neolithic site near the Roman town of Saintes and Cognac is a comfortable drive away. There is a very impresive zoo and several riding centres plus of course three golf courses not too far away.

Just returned from a last minute weekend stay. Very quite and relaxing with everything we needed thank you. Loved exploring the area and the owners blog was excellent for ideas and so helpful. There were guests in the chateaux but would have loved to explore so will look at getting a group together to come back and stay there. We were recommended by friends who have stayed in the logis before and we were not disappointed with the cottage.
Thank you to all staff we too will be recommending you.

I never stayed at this property. We stayed in Chateau de Rochebonne, St Just Luzac, charante maratime.

Owner response

To readers I should explain that this client booked "La Mangeoire" but in fact stayed in the Chateau - the reasons are too long to relate here ! I did however show the client around the cottage they would have stayed in, and they liked it very much. It is always great to meet new perople, especially interesting people like Lesley and husband.
