|La Miellerie||Self Catering||Flexible||2||6||1||Double Sofabed|
Our holiday cottage has been lovingly created with a desire to give our guests a comfortable vacation so memorable that they will return year after year.
The overall living space is around 70 square metres over 2 floors.
Downstairs is the beautiful living/kitchen area complete with CD sound system, DVD player, 80 cm HD flat screen TV, electric cooker and hob, microwave, washing machine, toaster, kettle, fridge-freezer, iron and ironing board. A Wi-Fi fit is provided as well as a number of books, CD's, DVD's and games.
The cottage also benefits from free wi-fi/internet access and UK Freesat satellite channels,
Upstairs we have 2 bedrooms, one is a double and the other has 2 single beds. Both rooms have ample storage spaces for clothes and other personal belongings. Completing the upstairs is the bathroom with toilet, washbasin and a power shower.
For families of more than 4 we have a double sofabed available downstairs in the property.
For very young children we have a number of cuddly toys we can provide as well as a highchair.
The outside space around the cottage totals around 300 square metres, included in this to the front is a covered outdoor eating area complete with barbecue, to the side of the property is a hard standing area to be used for late evening meals and drinks, facing west, taking in the end of the day sunshine and stunning views of the village.
Around the cottage there is plenty of space for parking your car, and setting up your sun loungers whilst the children play safely at the rear of the cottage or on the field above the main house.
The cottage, main house, pool and garden occupies a total land area of 2,000 square metres.
Above the main house is the main garden and swimming pool (shared with owners), a fresh water pool of 9 metres x 4 metres x 1.5 metres deep and available from around 9 in the morning until late at night (from around the end of April until early October). The pool is fully alarmed to comply with regulations.
Various loungers, chairs, tables, umbrellas, water floats, balls are available for use around the pool.
The house is south facing, so the sun rises to the left side of the property (above the pool) and by mid morning the entire property is bathed in sunshine. You can then watch the sun setting to the front of the cottage late at night.
2014 is our first year of renting out the cottage, our guests this year we now consider as firm friends, please visit our guestbook for full reviews, but we have listed below a couple of their comments;
"Thank you so much Stuart and Alison for making our holiday so amazing. The Gite was beautiful, comfortable and spacious for 4 adults and 2 children
We can't believe how lucky we were to find your gite on the internet - it was everything we wanted. The 4 of us didn't want to leave such an idyllic place. Alison, Stewart and Shannon were so kind and helpful and great fun! They recommended places to go to and even lent us a map to make sure we arrived safely. there are not many owners who on finding we hadn't eaten when we arrived late and all the shops were shut, would bring round ingredients out of their own kitchen so.that we could make omelettes to enjoy. Thank you so much."

Originally from Newcastle Upon Tyne, worked on the river for 30 years until my wife Alison and I decided the time was right to follow our dream and move to France for a better way of life. Lover of travelling to beautiful places, following MotoGP around Europe and just generally enjoying life.
|Year property purchased||2014|
|Why this location?||This area is second only behind the South of France Cote d'Azur for number of hours of sunshine per year. We live in a beautiful tranquil village with access to everything that we need. If we need to return to the UK to visit friends and family we can drive, take a ferry or we have six airports within a two hours radius.|
|Unique benefits of property||Not only a gite, but your own house with surrounding garden, private parking, peaceful, tranquil setting and ten minutes to supermarkets and main town of Saint Jean d'Angely.|
Around the region there are many weekly and monthly markets and fairs, Also many other beautiful places to visit including chateau's, zoo's, theme parks (Futuroscope). For the sporting types, each year the Motocross world championships are held at St Jean d'Angely and if you are a golfer there are courses at Saintes and Niort, both around 30 minutes away.
This is our second visit to La Miellerie - our first was September 2017 and now June 2018 just 9 months apart confirms this is an excellent place to stay and, it will not be our last!
The hosts Stewart and Alison are so very welcoming and love to provide guests with lots of information about Lozay, the surrounding area and places to visit.
The gite is charming, clean and is very well equipped and can cater for all needs and ages - even bikes are provided at no extra cost. The bottle of wine, bread, butter, jam and fresh eggs from their hens are the best we have ever tasted and, after a long drive very much appreciated. The location of the gite is gorgeous being nestled amongst sunflowers makes it very private and relaxing. Lozay is a very peaceful pretty village with lots of lanes to explore and being near to beautiful beaches is also an added bonus. One of the main features for us is that the property comes with a private heated pool so even if the weather is a little cooler, you can swim quite comfortably. I would have no hesitation in recommending La Miellerie to family and friends but not too many otherwise there will be no availability for us! Chris & Rory Yeadon June 2018,
Thanks to you both for the kind review, your second visit and hopefully not long before your third, take care, bisous from La Miellerie
It has all been said before but I would like to add to the ever increasing eulogy that is on your guestbook. We have recently returned from a wonderful week with you. The gite is immaculate, well cared for and full of the comforts of home – even unfortunately complete Coronation Street and Eastenders! The main bedroom is spacious, has a large bed complete with quality bedding which all adds to the rest and relaxation and hallelujah for the quality of the bath sheets, certainly not thin and skimpy like some! Very well equipped kitchen/dining area with all you would need – including the complementary and most welcome wine and starter pack of food.
Move outside to the choices of eating areas and choices of BBQs! Under cover, in the shade, full sun…you choose and good quality outdoor furniture to boot!
Lets move into the gardens with areas of immaculately kept grass and flower beds bursting with colour which guide you to the 'piece de resistance'…the heated pool and the surrounding patio. OMG to coin a phrase. We lazed and swam and swam and lazed up to 11:00pm in the inky black night. (You had gone away for a few days so we didn't disturb you!) These were moments to cherish.
The gite is a little isolated which does involve driving but this is a first rate gite, of that there is no doubt and I would have no hesitation in recommending both the gite and Alison and Stewart who are indeed lovely people.
Thanks for taking the time to write such a fantastic review, great to meet you both, hopefully you will visit us in the future, Stewart and Alison
Relaxing holiday in lovely, clean and comfortable, well appointed cottage with mod-cons when you need them.
Lots of outdoor space surrounded by open countryside, so it feels very peaceful and secluded, perfect for relaxing by the pool and eating outside. Plenty of shady garden areas and furniture to escape the sun.
Alison and Stewart were very discrete but welcoming and helpful and, providing first-hand information about what and where to visit, eat, markets etc.
If you want peace and quiet this is a truly rural retreat, perfectly situated with quiet roads and a joy to return to whatever the weather.
We really enjoyed the peace and calm of the location which lends itself to relaxation, so it was nice to be able to relax and do practically nothing for three weeks.
Thank you for your feedback it was lovely to meet you both and we hope to see you in the future
We had a most enjoyable stay at La Miellerie. The hosts Stewart and Alison are very welcoming and on hand to give lots of information about Lozay and the surrounding area.
We arrived a little early but this was no problem as Stewart asked if we wanted to go into their home while the gite was being prepare and have a cup of tea or sit by the pool. The gite is charming and well equipped to cater for all needs - even bikes. The bottle wine, bread and fresh eggs from their hens were lovely and very much appreciated. The location of the gite is gorgeous being nestled amongst sunflowers and is very private. Lozay is a very peaceful pretty village with lots of lanes to explore and being near to beautiful beaches is also an added bonus but there are no amenities in Lozay such as a shop/bar etc which wasn't a problem as we are use to this in rural France but for some it might. The property also has a fabulous pool that is heated and even when the weather is a little cooler, you can swim quite comfortably. I would have no hesitation in recommending La Miellerie to family and friends and, hope to return one day.
Thank you for the review, it was lovely to meet you both.
