We are a retired couple : Gordon is English, I am French. We both like gardening, Gordon looks after the vegetables and the grass, I am in charge of flowers and shrubs and I love it. We also like to see people and they can see us when they wish, and every summer we are invaded, with great pleasure, by our children and grandchildren.
|Year property purchased||1992|
|Why this location?||It is the second sunniest region in France after the "Côte d'azur"|
|Unique benefits of property||We and the guests who come here like the calm of our property/the area and the possibility of walking or cycling close to the house on the "Voie Verte"|
Five minutes from the house there is a safe controlled lake, set up for children to play, with a grill serving limited but fresh and large portions of food. About 40 minutes from the house you can visit Aubeterre, Blaye, Cognac and St Emilion. Aubeterre is a medieval village with the largest monolithic church in France. Cognac is a small town, the centre is old and well appointed. The streets down to the Charente are old, full of interesting houses and well looked after. There are cruises on the Charente.St Emilion is also a medieval village but with a lot of tourists due to the well know wine, it has a small train that goes round vineyards. Blaye is a citadel on the Gironde, the estuary of the Garonne and Dordogne.
