|La Petite Gravelle||Self Catering||Saturday||1||2||1||Cot or additional single bed available on request|
La Petite Gravelle is a beautiful traditional cottage, renovated and equipped to a very high standard. It is one of the few gites in the area which caters mainly for couples although a cot or additional single bed is available on request. La Petite Gravelle is situated on the edge of a tiny hamet with a population of less then 20 people and faces south-west across open countryside into the summer sunsets. The Gite is completely detached and the private sun-trap courtyard is equipped with sunloungers, table and chairs, gas bbq and generous-size parasol.
La Petite Gravelle is set in a tranquil and peaceful hamlet and is ideal for those seeking a relaxing holiday, although it is only 10 minutes from the historic town of St Jean d'Angély, Cognac with its distilleries, the beautiful Roman town of Saintes and the many pretty villages and hamlets in the area are within easy reach.
The cottage shares an additional 2,000 m² of land with the owners, and guests are welcome to make use of it and the various sitting areas and tables dotted around. The surrounding countryside is full of sunflowers and vineyards and is ideal for making use of the mountain bikes available for your use.

We are Mike and Maria Floyd, originally from Dorset in the UK and now happily semi-retired in beautiful Charente Maritime since 2007.
Mike's background was in publishing and graphic design and Maria's in management and customer service.
We are kept busy by our 2,000sq m of land and potager (shared with our guests) our chickens, our dogs and outings in our MG with the local owners' group.
|Year property purchased||2008|
|Why this location?||We knew from our previous holiday visits to Charente Maritime that it has a wonderful climate, fascinating towns and villages, fabulous beaches and a calm and relaxing atmosphere. Retirement here was always a long-term goal.
Our own tiny hamlet is surrounded by farmland and is quiet and tranquil, but we are only 10 minutes from the sights and facilities of historic St Jean d'Angély and within easy reach of Cognac, Saintes, La Rochelle and the endless beaches of the Cote Sauvage.
|Unique benefits of property||We created La Petite Gravelle as the gite we had always wanted to find on our own holidays - a special place for couples to unwind, equipped like our own home, tranquil and yet within easy reach of fascinating towns and villages.
Completely detached and private, La Petite Gravelle provides the choice of topping up your tan on the sunbeds, cycling the lanes, visiting the numerous historic nearby towns or simply relaxing with a glass of wine from our local wine producer - who is just 800m away.
Within easy reach of Cognac, Saintes, Angouleme, La Rochelle, the 'Venise Verte', the Ile de Ré and the magnificent beaches of the Cote Sauvage.
