We have had the most relaxing fabulous week!!
As a family party of 7 adults you couldn’t ask for more from a holiday home. The amount of space both inside and out has allowed us all to have time together and also a bit of peace and quiet when needed. We loved the pool during the day, relaxed evenings eating on the terrace but also keeping up with sports and playing board games.
Spotlessly clean throughout, a well stocked kitchen and some very thoughtful touches, including a toiletries basket and a welcome pack in the kitchen with some basic food items to tide you over until you can shop. The owner was very accessible and helpful both before and during our stay.
Perfect holiday would highly recommend this property and would love to return in the future.
Many thanks Jon!
Thank you for your comments. We're really pleased you and your family enjoyed your stay and we hope to welcome you back again in the future.
Absolutely lovely house with a great pool and setting. We loved this house and hope to return sometime in the future. It’s large and spacious and has everything you could ask for. The property is old and grand but has been modernised with two brand new bathrooms. Set in a lovely square, so not on a main road, which was important for us. Well maintained and clean. Owner called the week before to check details and replied speedily to a query I had when we arrived. We had trips to Bordeaux and Saintes among others - would definitely recommend this property.
Thank you for your lovely review. We're really pleased you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you and your family again.
This our third year in a row staying at Maison de Lafenestre. That alone says it all. I cannot think of anything that this beautiful house is missing and cannot recommend it highly enough, the welcome pack of goodies is a lovely touch. The owners are very friendly and informative.
It is a beautiful location and a wonderful base to get out and enjoy all that this lush region of France has to offer. I can recommend a trip to Talmont-sur-Gironde and the Zoo la Palmyre in Royan is probably the best zoo I have ever visited, make sure you buy the popcorn on your entry and you can then feed it to the Giraffes and Elephants.
It is worth noting that there really are no local amenities in the village hence the low score. This is however what makes the location so peaceful and relaxing. It is only a short drive to the nearest, and very quaint, village of Baignes.
We will be booking for next year shortly.
Thank you for your kind review and we are really glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. It's always nice to welcome our guests back for more visits.
As you say, there aren't any shops in St Maigrin and that's part of the reason we love it there too. It takes just 10 minutes to get to the nearest supermarket in Baines.
We look forward to welcoming you back again next year!
On Arrival at the house we were all in awe of the lovely square it was set in, close too the church and a square filled with trees that kept the area outside the house wonderfully cool. The house itself was beautiful especially for a large family where rooms were large and spacious. The house had everything we needed for a long stay. The showers and bathroom were very clean and modern. Plenty of storage for clothes in bedrooms and plenty of seating for all the family. Kitchen was very well stocked and cooking for several people was easy. Outside the garden was extensive and the pool and surrounding area is where we spent most hot days where temps were hitting 35c and beyond. We loved our lazy days by the pool.
On arrival we met the housekeeper who resides next door and she was friendly and accessible which made us feel at ease if we did not know something. The owner was also very informative and contactable if any problems arose.
This was a wonderful base to explore Cognac, Bordeaux, Royan and Aubeterre where we had a wonderful time canoeing along the River Dronne. Bordeaux also came out tops with the family where we all agreed it is the best city we have visited. We all love France but this has been by far the best accomodation and area we have stayed in so far.
I would highly recommend this property to anyone as it really was an idyllic holiday.
Thank you so much for your kind review. I'm really pleased you and your family enjoyed your stay at Maison de Lafenestre.
We hope to welcome you back again another time.
