Hanger House is the smaller of our 2 fabulous holiday homes, sleeping 4 in 2 bedrooms. The house sits in a small hamlet surrounded by rolling countryside full of vines, sunflowers and maize. Within easy reach of the fantastic sandy beaches and many historic and cultural places to visit, such as The Roman Amphitheatre at Sainte or the Citadel at Blaye. There is an abundance of vineyards and Cognac distilleries large and small; tasting the local Pineau is a must and makes a great treat on your return home. Cycling, running, golf, sailing, riding, there is no shortage of activities etc.
Hanger House has been totally renovated by us from a typical Charentaise farmhouse with a chez where the wine was made, still with its original pressing equipment. This will provide you with a holiday home with both character and comfort.
The kitchen has original exposed stone walls and beams and is double height. It is fully-fitted with a washing machine, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and all the cooking utensils, glass, crockery and cutlery you will need. The kitchen is semi open plan and leads into the sitting room.
Here you will be immediately struck by the beautiful original Charentaise fireplace. Original shuttered windows, shuttered to keep you cool in the heat of the day! The ceiling has exposed beams. The walls are stone. There are comfortable sofas, mood lighting, a tv for dvds and video games (games not provided) and there are some books, puzzles and outside games. Stairs up to the bedrooms.
The first floor master bedroom has exposed beams and pretty attic windows. This room was originally the granary, (please watch young children as the windows are lower than in the UK) a lovely room with a double bed and simple furnishing.
Ground floor twin bedded room which opens directly onto the terrace and private garden via a french window, with exposed beam, accessed from the kitchen.
Large shower room with wc, basin and a water heater, this provides you with lashings of hot water which is heated overnight.
Not required during our letting period

Large private garden, overlooking open countryside, with a terrace, loungers, parasol, built in bbq with tools, table and chairs for those balmy sun kissed evenings chilling out with a glass in your hand.

We had a wonderful holiday, particularly enjoying cycling to the bakery for our bread every morning (on hired bicycles, organised by the owners). Walking on the lovely beaches, and would definitely recommend a meal at the local resturant La Table in Meursac.
Hanger house was a lovely place to stay with lovely period features, with a pretty garden and the hanger would be perfect in the summer to escape the sun especially for my daughter. I would definitely recommend to friends and we are looking forward to going back in the summer months to enjoy the sunshine and more of the beaches.
