Small families or one or two couples.
We bought the village house in 2000. It had been empty for a few years and just needed some love and attention. Over the years it has given us much interest and enjoyment and continues to provide a great holiday location for us and our family.

|Why this location?||The location is excellent being close to countryside, beach and interesting local towns.<br/>It has easy access to Bordeaux and La Rochelle airports, trains at Saintes and the A10 autoroute is ten minutes drive from our village.|
|Unique benefits of property||Experiencing life in a very friendly French village. We like being able to step outside and enjoy outdoor living in the two gardens.|
The towns of Saintes, Pons, La Rochelle, Rochefort and Cognac are all within easy driving distance. They are well worth exploring and are packed with history, Roman remains and interesting architecture. They have lovely parks, shady outdoor sitting areas, cafés and restaurants. Each town offers boating and trips on the river.
For lovers of classical music many of our surrounding towns and villages offer some excellent concerts. From June to September there are weekly concerts offered by the Jeudis Musicaux programme. Here you can listen to world class musicians who come to perform in the little churches around Royan. Saintes boasts an excellent conservatoire based at the Abbaye aux Dames which offers an annual Summer music festival.
Nearby in the next village is this excellent little restaurant. It is open for weekday lunches and also dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings. There are of course many other interesting little restaurants in the locality.
There are some good little beaches along the estuary at Meschers just a 30 minute drive from our house. Royan and the Côte Sauvage are well known for their Atlantic shoreline and long sandy beaches.
There are plenty of interesting villages in this area many with Romanesque churches. Talmont is a picturesque village perched above the estuary and Mortagne further along the estuary has a little port with restaurants and cafés. During the Summer some of the towns and villages hold festivals and every Sunday there will be a brocante or vide-grenier (flea market) in a village or town not too far away.
Nearby Gémozac has a good outdoor pool. Other pools can be found at Saintes and Pons. At Jonzac there is a well known Spa and swimming pool complex.
