|No 2 Palm Tree Cottages||Self Catering||Saturday||1||2||1|
No 2 Palm Tree Cottages is a charming Charentaise style cottage situated in our tranquil village in the heart of the vineyards and sunflowers of south west France.
It has a mezzanine floor, with a spiral staircase and minstrels gallery where you'll find a double bedroom with views over the gardens and fields from your bed. Perfect for a romantic getaway. There's also a small box-room with bunk beds. The cottage has a beautiful salon which has a sitting, eating and cooking area with many mod-cons including 32" flat screen, UK tv and free wi-fi.
The double-glazed windows look out over the famous palm tree and the cottage has its own private enclosed garden. This is right next door to the off-road parking area and orchard, large garden, allotment and play garden with views over the French countryside beyond. We have a basketball net, table tennis, a 4 metre in-ground trampoline (just a few inches high) and safe archery.
Feel free to help yourself to anything growing, whether it is fruit, vegetables or flowers.
We hope you like peace and quiet as you won't hear anything other than wildlife at night and won't see anything other than stars as the mayor turns off all the street lights at 11pm. The stars on a clear night are quite spectacular.
We have a large and secluded in-ground heated swimming pool. It is only shared with one other cottage. It is completely not overlooked and is one of the largest in the area at 12 metres by 6 metres with a depth throughout of 1.2 metres. This means that all but the smallest can safely touch the bottom. The pool and its surrounds are protected by secure fencing and accessed only via toddler proof magnetic gates. The pool is serviced by large terraces and lawns as well as pretty flower beds and vines. There's even a small veg patch for you to help yourself.
Large parasols and sunloungers complete the poolside holiday feel. You will have the freedom to use the pool when you wish .
The pool is cleaned by the owner most mornings .
Whilst this spot is lovely, we would recommend that you explore the area which will require a car. There are options around if you want to hire locally but an internet search will probably find you the best option to suit especially from the airports. Remember to check out the SuperU and Intermarche websites in Matha and check their rental prices (or prix de location).
This cottage is perfect for a couple to enjoy the peace and quiet of the beautiful French countryside and local hospitality.
Open plan kitchen and dining areas tastefully decorated with exposed stone walls and several original oak beams.
Also open plan with exposed stone walls and a logburner for the off season chillier evenings.
