Number 1 Palm Tree cottages is a charming Charentaise style cottage situated in our tranquil village in the heart of the vineyards and sunflowers of southwest France. It has 2 twin /double bedrooms and comfortably sleeps 4. Perfect for a family holiday or romantic getaway for two. The cottage has a beautiful salon which has a sitting, eating and cooking area with many mod-cons including 32" flat screen and Wi-Fi.
The windows look out over a lovely wisteria covered terrace with it's own private garden. This is right next door to the off-road parking area and orchard, large garden, allotment and play garden with views over the French countryside beyond. We have a basketball net, table tennis, a 4 metre in ground trampoline (just 1 foot high) and archery for the kids.
We hope you like peace and quiet as you won't hear much other than wildlife at night and won't see anything other than stars as the mayor turns off all the street lights at 11pm. The stars on a clear night are quite spectacular.
We have a large not overlooked in-ground heated swimming pool, one of the largest in the area at 12 metres by 6 with a depth throughout of 1.2 metres. This is surrounded by large terraces and lawns as well as pretty flower beds and vines. Large parasols and sun-loungers complete the poolside holiday feel.
You will have the freedom to use the pool whenever you wish . The cottage is in a very peaceful location and the pool and grounds are only shared with one other smaller cottage if not booked as a villa.

From the minute we arrived to the minute we left our hosts Mark and Elaine were friendly, informative and keen to ensure we had a great time whilst staying in their gite. Mark met and welcomed us on day one, showing us round the property and answering our questions. Living next door was a great bonus, as we were left to,our own devices, but if we needed any help or info it was easy to obtain! Nothing was too much trouble for them.
The gite was very clean, comfortable and well equipped, with plenty of room and a wide range of activities to occupy eight people. The swimming pool was a real gem and with so many other activities eg. Table tennis, archery, boules, badminton, football, recliners,tv there was always something to do for the whole family.
Within easy reach were some wonderful beaches, quaint towns, historical features and larger cities (if you wanted to shop). Saintes was a case in point, wonderful roman remains, a colourful market and variety of shops with a lovely public park and huge river through the centre. St.Sevinien was a short drive away, a lovely little riverside town with shops, artists, historical quarter and for children a super park with small scale model boats that chidren could steer and adults were passengers plus huge number of inflatables, etc. Mark and Elaine were able to suggest a number of interesting places and activities to see and do - two weeks just flew by.
