Once the village dance hall, and more recently an artist’s studio, now tastefully converted with many unique features including original pieces of sculpture Lavender Cottage is well furnished, tastefully decorated and fully equipped for a relaxing holiday in the stunning Charente Maritime.
Lavender's delightful kitchen comprises the following:-
Full-size electric oven
Four burner gas hob
Iron and Ironing Board
All necessary crockery, utensils and pots and pans
There is a further dining table in the lounge/dining room
The large lounge/diner with tiled floor has a log burner for those cooler months, comfy seating for all guests and is decorated to a high standard. There is a 32" lcd tv with dvd player (receives English Freesat channels), good selection of dvds and books.
The spacious mezzanine bedroom has views out over the garden and village. There is a comfy King size bed (160cms). The bed is made up with pretty linen for your arrival and we provide a change of linen for stays longer than a week.
This is on the ground floor and is equipped with a heated towel rail, shower, basin and wc. We provide a set of towels per guest.
Logburner in lounge - logs provided and electric panel heaters in all rooms.

Lavender opens onto the courtyard where you will find tables chairs and parasols. There is also a small covered private patio area with table and chairs for your use.
There is also access the lovely communal gardens which are provided with tables, chairs, parasols and sunloungers. Guests have the use of a full-size table tennis table and various outdoor games.
Limited parking is available on-site. Additional parking is just outside the property walls.
The main bedroom is on the first floor therefore the cottage is not considered suitable for those with limited mobility. However, the folding bed or sofa bed in the lounge on the ground floor could be suitable for the less able, but it should be noted that there is a tiny step up (approx 3" from the kitchen to the lounge). Please enquire for more information regarding suitability.
We can provide a cot or highchair - subject to availability, but please be aware that the stairs have open treads, so may not be suitable for toddlers.
We are from a little island in the North of the UK and visiting France for many years particularly when our own 4 children were young. We have owned a holiday home in France since 2009.

|Why this location?||We love the tranquility of being in a peaceful rural village surrounded by vineyards and sunflowers. However, we are within easy reach of numerous tourist attractions and stunning villages and towns, both on the coast and inland.|

'Aulnay de Saintonge’
Our nearest town with a fine example of a Romanesque Church, seasonal open-air pool, restaurants, bakers, supermarkets, banks etc and its lively Sunday Market where you can buy fresh local produce.
'La Rochelle' A must see! This seaside port is the third most visited destination in France after Paris and Aix en Provence. A vibrant port full of hustle and bustle where you can sit around one of the hundred harbour facing restaurants people watching lapping up some Moules Frites!!
'Cognac' Visit a world famous distillery. Try the local aperitif pineau. Lovely market and beautiful parks. You can also enjoy a boat trip on the Charente River in a traditional gabare.
For centuries a way station on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostella, this pretty town hosts large Wednesday and Saturday markets. Here you will find many shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants offering French and international cuisine.
With its fine amphitheatre dating back to Roman times, and the former capital of the department.
'Bordeaux' Only 90 minutes away this World Heritage Site. International shops, wonderful buildings, culture, restaurants, wine and pavement cafes.
‘Mornac-sur-Seudre' Visit the beautiful town of Mornac-sur-Seudre. Full of galleries and workshops. Watch artisans at work and an opportunity to shop for those holiday souvenirs.
'Marais Poitevin' Dubbed “Frances Answer to the Norfolk Broads” this tranquil magical area consists of hundreds of inter connecting waterways famously lime green in colour. A fantastic way to while away a day by taking out your own rowing boat or a guided tour boat. Stop for a romantic picnic on one of the thousands of riverbanks and sleep it off under a silverbirch tree. Bliss!

Well presented gite in a lovely garden, which is equipped with loungers etc for relaxing in the glorious Charente sun! The owners are welcoming and friendly, and nothing appears too much trouble for them. Would definitely recommend.
