|La Figue||Self Catering||Flexible||5||11||2||1 single bed in a double bedroom used as a couch|
Four large double bedrooms, one kids bedroom with bunk beds and a single bed, one shower room and one en suite bath room, a large living room with 3 couches and a fireplace, a large fully equipped kitchen and a large and shaded terrace, La Figue is ideal for family holidays, and it's specially equipped to accommodate toddlers.
This rental is located in a converted vineyard, with the charm of an old house and the comfort of a modern one. It shares with 4 smaller gites the large garden, the kids playroom and the solar heated swimming pool.
We're situated halfway between Royan (beaches) and Cognac (vineyards) 35 min drive, and La Rochelle and Bordeaux (both 1h15 drive), which makes it very easy for those who want to visit Charente Maritime. In a quiet hamlet in the countryside, facilities are not far though as we're only 8 km from Pons (medieval town) and 15 min from the thermal city of Jonzac.
There are so many places of interest and so many things to do around, Roman Arena, vineyards, tree adventure park, go-karting, horse riding but you can also choose to stay and top up your tan on one of the swimming pool's deck chairs, while your kids enjoy a craft session with me (once a week).
On Sundays, we invite you to a local products aperitif buffet, the opportunity to test Cognac, Pineau, melon, goat cheese, sausages, to meet other families, and to talk of all the nice places you should see around.
A large kitchen, with gas cooker, 2 fridges, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, coffee-machine, toaster. There's also a large farm table and chairs, nice place to have your meals, but you'll probably end up as most of the guests, taking all your meals on the private and shaded (gazebo) terrace which is so nice for relaxing while you keep an eye on the kids playing under the big lime tree.
The large living room with its 3 couches, its fire place, the tv (free satellite British channels) and the dvd player is perfect to spend time with all the family or friends, or alone for a quiet reading moment while every one else is enjoying the garden or the swimming pool.
One double bedroom with en suite on the ground floor, 3 large, bright, with large cupboards double bedrooms and a kids bedroom (2 bunk beds and 1 single) on the first floor. Double beds are 140 cm x 200 cm, singles 90 x 190.
One en suite little bathroom on the ground floor, one shower room on the first floor.
Toilets at each level are independent.
Electrical in every room except the living room which has a very efficient fireplace. In case of cold weather (never in summer) a 50 euros additional fee is due per week.
On Sundays, we invite our guests to an aperitif buffet to taste local products (Cognac, Pineau, pork specialities, goat cheese and melon).
Once a week I do a craft session with kids according to their age.
We have plenty of games (board and outside) to lend, just ask!
The garden is divided into 2 parts, the smallest (200 m2) is the lime tree courtyard, and is closed by a gate, it has a little plastic kids cabin, and a swing. The largest one (1500 m2) is open to the surrounding fields, has a second swing, a slide, and a sandpit and a large trampoline.
The 9x4m swimming pool is entirely enclosed, and solar heated. Its depth starts at 80 cm down the stairs to finish at 150cm.
2 parking areas on the property.
This gite has a ground floor bedroom, bathroom and toilets, but it has some small steps inside and outside. I bought some metal access ramps, for a little boy in a wheelchair last year, but the doors are not very large and I'm not sure an adult wheel chair could easily circulate in the gite (sorry!).
Animals are not accepted, we already have a dog (beagle) and a cat.
Our gites are specially equipped for families with young children (cots, highchairs, booster, potties, toilet adaptators, kids steps, stairgates, baby bathtubs, changing mat, non slip bath mat, baby phones, night lights, plastic crockery, books, toys)
A kids playroom, a large trampoline, a ping pong table and plenty of indoor and outdoor games on disposal, we want to be a kids paradise, and our guests say we are!
When we, Michelle, Manu, Angela and Anouk, decided to leave Paris, we could only choose this beautiful region for our new life. We had spent here all our summer holidays for 8 years. A true love story! The light, the weather, the architecture, the beaches, the vineyards, the relaxed and kind population, and the food, we loved everything here! And three years later, we still do!<br/>So we bought this wonderful cluster of accommodation located in a former vinefarm and especially equipped for kids.

|Why this location?||Charente Maritime is the sunniest area in France (counting in days). The landscapes with vineyards and little hills are so beautiful, we're halfway between Royan and the beaches, and Cognac, only 1h15 from La Rochelle going north and Bordeaux going south. Situated in a quiet hamlet, but only 8 km from a little medieval town, life is so relaxing here: you open your window in the morning and most of the time, the sun is shining and the birds are singing...we love this dolce vita!|
