Large Private Charentaise Home with Pool and Garden. This chateau is in a rural setting.

Our home is in a rural setting in the Charente Maritime region. It is a large quiet and completely private traditional farmhouse set in approximately 4 acres of garden. A little stream runs at the rear of the property and there is a small pond which is dry in the summer. The house is on a small lane and surrounded with grapevines and sunflowers. A large gate beside the decorative pigeonier, closes out the outside world and the property is partially fenced on the boundaries. There is a beautiful 9x5 metre fresh water swimming pool which is fully fenced and alarmed and accessed from the garden or from the house. Loungers seating and towels are provided. There is outside veranda dining at the kitchen end of the house and the by the pool and at the front of the house.
A large hangar provides cover for parties or for playing table tennis and table football. Outside there is also a badminton net and rackets and a net for Volleyball in the pool.

There are 4 bedrooms upstairs with one en suite bathroom and one family bathroom tiled in traditional French style. Two are king size beds and 2 are super-king size. One of these may be configured as twin beds if required, in the plum coloured room. Downstairs there is a room with five day beds which can be used as five 3’ singles or two king size doubles and a single. The maximum number to sleep is thirteen. Towels, pool towels, tea towels and bedding are provided.

A beautiful hallway opens to the garden, kitchen, salon, and pool room as well as a downstairs wc.

The rustic French kitchen is large and sunny with a dishwasher and 2 ovens, one with gas hob, fridge and microwave. It has ample dining space and also a wood burning stove for winter guests. Wood can be found behind the barn. There is a door to the Veranda for outside dining.

The utility room houses 2 further fridges, useful for parties, and a freezer plus a washing machine and the hot water/heating boiler.

The salon is a very comfortable room with a wood burning stove for winter guests surrounded by a lovely traditional French fireplace. There is also a piano, English tv, dvd player, books and boardgames.
The pool room is a beautiful 62 square metre, cool tiled room which opens to the pool area, it has ample leather seating and dining areas and has French tv.

The aerial view of the property shows 3 buildings which are the house and pool, the Hangar and a large barn which houses gardening equipment and will be closed. Behind this is a fruit orchard and the property is surrounded by gardens.

The nearest supermarket is at Baignes 7km, 10 mins drive or you can cycle or walk through the grapevines.
This is a pretty little town with everything you will need such as, petrol, supermarket, chemist, bakery, restaurants and coffee shops.
If you want somewhere larger there is Jonzac 16k 20 mins. There is also a train station here.

The nearest airport is Bordeaux 70km an easy drive usually under 1 hour.
Other Nearby towns are:
Cognac 41k about a 45 minute drive which has a wealth of cultural activities to be explored.
Angouleme 60k 45 mins also main train station.
Aubeterre-sur-Dronne 46k 45 mins a lovely historic town
Talmont-sur-Gironde 59k 1 hour a pretty seaside town
You can also reach the coast in under an hour and visit many wine tasting areas such as St Emillion.
There are also several markets, including a Tuesday evening market at Montendre which has live music and food stalls where you can sit and eat.
