Our countryside property offers comfortable family accommodation in a restored traditional French manor house complex in the Charente Maritime region of France. Situated in the hamlet of La Ville Aux Moines, we benefit from stunning views during the summer months and are surrounded by sunflower fields. The Charente Maritime region has a climate second only to the Riviera. Its “micro climate” enjoys mild winters and warm sunny summers making it the ideal holiday destination! Being named after constellations means that when you stay in one of our gites, you really do holiday with the stars!
As owners, we live on site in our lovingly restored French manor house. We have refurbished the outlying buildings into well-appointed dwellings that are now available for holiday rental.
We have a fantastic heated, fully-tiled, safety fenced swimming pool (12 x 8m) which has a separate splash pool (6 x 5m) for young ones. A half acre garden contains childrens swings, a play fort, badminton and lawn tennis, a football net, a very large safety-netted trampoline and there is also a gamesroom with table tennis and pool and table football. We have lots of bikes including child seats and safety helmets.
In short we have everything you need for the perfect holiday. Then, of course, for the more adventurous, there is all that Charente Maritime has to offer as well!
Each gite has a fully-fitted kitchen, fully stocked with all crockery, cutlery etc. There is a kettle, microwave, toaster and full size gas oven with overhead extractor. There is satellite tv so you can watch all the normal UK channels or if you prefer you can watch French tv. There is a dvd player, it is also possible to have UK radio via the satellite and to play music cds on the dvd player, so bring your favourite dvds/cds. There is wi-fi so you can keep up with your emails if you wish.
The bedrooms have full size wardrobes, all bedding and towels are provided free of charge. Cots are available.

|Why this location?||Rural France is like stepping back 40-50 years. Its a much slower more relaxed way of life with the added bonus of beautiful countryside and sunshine and the beach and historic town of La Rochelle a pleasant 40 minute drive away.|
|Unique benefits of property||We have a range of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom gites. We are the perfect location for holidaying with family and friends, or just holidaying on your own with the reassurance there is lots to see and do and keep the kids occupied.|
We are 40 minutes from the historic port of La Rochelle on the west coast of France. The beaches of Ile de Re, Ile d’Oleron La Rochelle, Chatelaillon and Royan are nearby. Venise Verte and Benon Wood. Cognac, Puy du Fou, Saintes, La Palmyre Zoo and Futuroscope at Poitiers are all within easy reach. There are numerous Chateaux in the area open to visitors. La Rochelle - a large cosmopolitan town on the cost 40 minutes to the west of us. Le Vieux Port. This is the heart of eating and drinking to be found in La Rochelle. It is what you see on many of the postcards and is simply stunning. There are scores of restaurants and bars to chose from either looking on to the old port, or on the streets just running off it. Local artists sell paintings, pottery, traders sell African artefacts, all forms of gifts on stalls around the harbour. There is a small beach and when the tide is right an opportunity to have a cooling swim. I like to park next to the indoor swimming pool to the north east, where you can walk through miles of park towards the beach, via children’s play areas, a children’s zoo and well manicured gardens. At night La Rochelle comes to life, street entertainers, music, night time shopping, for the adventurous there is a casino. The Market, “La Marche” a true French market which is open every day apart from Sunday. On Wednesday and Saturday, the “Grande Marche” is held where the stalls spill out from Les Halles and spread down the adjoining streets. If you like fresh food, this is not to be missed as the fish, seafood, meat, vegetables and flowers are displayed to their best and the atmosphere is incredible. Shopping in La Rochelle is a pleasure with a huge range of shops, including many selling the finest products in jewellery, fashion and food. The main shopping streets include those with sheltered walkways, which protect the shopper from rain in the winter and the heat of the sun.
