Spacious villa set in a small hamlet yet close to towns with all amenities and 75 mins from beach
Welcome to La Maison Dans la Vallée, a well maintained villa set in a secure courtyard with private swimming pool and games barn. Step outside and explore a region of bright fields of sunflowers and rows of vineyards (most of which cater towards the local delicacy, Pineau), not to mention the melons and woodlands, however a short cycle on the bikes provided will land you in Néré were you can relax in the shade, sipping the local wine at the bar or enjoy the tennis courts and fishing reservoir. Further afield, at 15 minutes by car you will find the bustling market towns of Aulnay de Saintonge and Matha where an abundance of restaurants, bars, boulangeries and supermarkets await you. Next stop is the historic town of St Jean d'Angely, just 30 mins away which has a large pleasure lake, aquatic activity center, large markets and many restaurants. Around an hours drive from the villa gives you a large choice of reknowned cities and towns to visit, inluding Saintes, Cognac, Angouleme, Royan and La Rochelle. Outdoor activities include kayaking, cycling, fishing, golf and of course walking. In this region it's safe to say that you won't be short of delights to enjoy, such as the aforementioned pineau, local wines, the world famous cognac, local cheeses and meats, fresh fruit, seafood, and of course plenty of brocantes to browse around. In the summer, make sure to keep an eye out for local festivals of all varieties, including music festivals, agricultural celebrations and the french take on boxcar racing, involving old mopeds and a lot of cognac.
