La Blanchetterie is a beautiful Charentais stone-built farmhouse available to let for your holiday, situated on the edge of the small village of Chenac in the Charente Maritime area of France. Complete with swimming pool and an acre of garden, set amongst vineyards and fields of beautiful sunflowers, La Blanchetterie faces south with views to the Gironde. It is the perfect place for a peaceful and relaxing holiday.
We have been here for 18 years and over that time spent a lot of time making changes and updating but keeping the farmhouse feel.
The house is very light and airy and very well equipped.
The open plan kitchen and dining room are very spacious, as is the sitting room which has frenchdoors leading out into the garden and to the swimming pool.
There is a lovely wooden staircase taking you upstairs to 3 bedrooms, 2 doubles and one twin. All with fabulous views across the countryside and to the Gironde estuary, a view one can never get bored of!
There is a big family bathroom with shower and big bath.
The gite is adjoining and also has 3 bedrooms. Both properties can be rented together or separately.
A lovely big spacious, light and airy open plan kitchen and dining room with a big wooden dining table seating 8/10. The kitchen is very well equipped (something to do with me being a cook by trade!).
There is a 5 ring gas hob, a double electric oven and a microwave. There is a big fridge-freezer, lots of cutlery and crockery and glasses. A dishwasher. There is also access to a washing machine.
Having been letting the house and gite out for so many years we hope we have everything there that anyone would need but should we have missed anything we will always be happy to provide those things.
The living room is a big space with 3 sofas, lovely original stone fireplace, frenchdoors out to the garden and pool. There is a tv with UK Freeview and a dvd player.
The floor is tiled with terracotta tiles and rugs around.
There is also a piano, some of the keys don't work but lots of guests have made some lovely tunes come out of it!
There are 3 bedrooms, 2 doubles and one twin. They all have fabulous views across the countryside and to the Gironde estuary. The main bedroom has frenchdoors.
The landing and bathroom are both tiled with terracotta tiles, the bedrooms are parquet flooring.
All bed linen in provided.
There is a big family bathroom with big shower, big bath, loo and sink and is tiled with terracotta tiles.
There is a heated towel rail.
There are electric heaters in all the rooms.
Tennis in the village
The garden is an acre including a pool which is 10 x 5 metres.
There are plenty of sunloungers, sun sail shades and tables and chairs for outside eating.
Bbq is also provided.
Lots of room for kids to run around and play.
The swimming pool has a rigid safety cover that meets French legal requirements.
It is shared with the gite and from all our years here we know this works well as kids have so much fun playing together and lets the parents have a bit more adult time!
There is parking which is safe and free.
The house and gite are suitable for everyone from families, couples, friends, whoever.
We do allow pets if they are well behaved. Not allowed on any of the furniture or beds though!
Please bear in mind that it can get very hot during the summer months and dogs are not allowed on the beaches apart from very early in the morning and later in the evenings. They are allowed on the Cote Sauvage which is a fabulous beach but about 45 mins drive.
There is so much to do in the area.

Talmont is a lovely car free village with charming narrow streets lined with roses and hollyhocks.
There are lovely artisan shops and restaurants. It is just a short drive from La Blanchetterie and is well worth a visit. It is listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France.
Perched on a cliff, the Romanesque art church of Sainte-Radegonde dominates the Gironde estuary. What a magnificent picture! It is the perfect place for a stroll.
