Ile de Ré offers an idealised version of French life. Most people use the cycle paths that criss-cross the islands vineyards, pine forests and salt flats. Ile de Ré salt is very fashionable in gastro circles. The cottage is located in La Noue. It is a quiet, tranquil setting the square offers a small morning market. La Noue shops have fresh fish and locally farmed oysters, cheese and patisseries. Everything is within walking distance including beeches restaurants, bakery's, bike hire, newsagent, hair dressers and boutique. There is a supermarket in Saint Marie just 5 mins on from La Noue square. The area has been awarded Station Verte a national label awarded to French nature and green tourism.
Ile de Ré a beautiful island just off the coast of La Rochelle a relaxing and idyllic place to holiday. Charming French villages separated by nature reserves, protected from the advance of mass tourism. The island is famous for its salt, oysters and potatoes, which can be enjoyed in the many restaurants. To make your way around the island, get yourself a bike – by far the easiest and healthiest and most fun way. There are many hire shops with a great choice of bikes and accessories. There are more than 100km of cycle paths which link all the villages and beaches. The island is exceptionally flat so hard work is kept to a minimum and in between the more rugged parts there is always a coffee or ice cream stop not too far away.
