Le Bûcher meaning ‘wood store’ was originally the storehouse for all the firewood for the Millhouse. It is on 2 floors and is in traditional Charentaise stone and is attached to the former mill. It overlooks the gently flowing and shallow Millstream and has a decked terrasse and is just opposite from Delice du Berger and La Terrasse – ideal also for 3 families wishing
to holiday together but independently!

This property is a spacious 2 bedroomed gite with open plan living space divided into kitchen/diner on the upper level with a couple of tiled steps down to the living space with lovely views of the river and, which in turn has tiled steps to the double glazed doors and onto your own decked terrace with table, parasol and a bbq.
The kitchen in oak is fully equipped with ample worktop space, electric oven & gas hob, microwave, sizeable fridge-freezer, washing machine, toaster & coffee machine, together with an oak dining table & chairs close to the large window looking over the millpond and river beyond.
The lounge has 2 cream sofas with coffee table & cd/radio & pine storage display unit. All of the ground floor is fully-tiled in shades of pale terracotta.
A hand-crafted pine staircase leads to the first floor and onto a landing with a small sofa & table. Next to the bathroom is the charming spacious room with a comfortable double bed & bedside tables, chair & wardrobe and a window looking onto
The second bedroom, quite cosy under a sloping roof with a big oak beam, has 2 single beds, bedside table & lamp and a pine chest of drawers with a window towards the river.
Both bedrooms have wood floors and the original beams as well as some exposed stonework.
At the top of the stairs a door opens into a bathroom with corner bath (overhead shower), large vanitory unit and wc.
This gite keeps the cool in, during the hot summer days.

Plenty of outside games too.
The grounds comprise a large walled garden ‘clos’ lawns, shrubs, rose garden & fruit trees including Plums, Apples, Fig & Cherry, plus an enclosed private in-ground swimming pool, childrens' playground and sandpit, all fenced off from the shady waterside woodland of plane trees and little island …..wildlife, freshwater shrimps and fish abound!
The millgites & gardens are in a very pretty & tranquil setting, no close neighbours yet not isolated with interesting nearby villages and restaurants suitable for all tastes, whether family or gourmet – and an ideal touring base with beaches and La Rochelle very convenient!
Perfect for couples or families or bring all your family and friends and rent the whole domain just to yourselves!
Surrounded by all the wonderful wildlife around the mill which you will enjoy yourselves including fish, frogs, occasional visiting ducks & peahens as well as a regular heron or two, hen harriers, egnets, kingfishers and storks, even a deer if you are lucky.

|Why this location?||The beauty of the countryside is amazing. The sun is so lovely you will really enjoy the swimming pool! We are close to everything and at the same time we are in a very peaceful setting, we love nature, we have so much here (the river, birds, butterflies...).|
|Unique benefits of property||The incredible setting: former watermill, with the stream Le Bruant flowing under one of our cottages and along one part of our garden. The nature is so relaxing.
