This is a very old picture - I'm the one holding the boy - but it captures the spirit of French Family Gites on a nearby beach. As a family with 4 children we quickly recognised the need to find other children to entertain them while we relaxed! It is a sociable place and works best when the adults and children get to know each other. We have weekly communal barbecues in which wine might be drunk and there could be singing, but it's not obligatory...

|Why this location?||It was as far south as I wanted to drive with a young family and good for the Atlantic beaches, as well as more glamorous places such as La Rochelle and Cognac.|
|Unique benefits of property||French Family Gites offers a unique farmhouse setting, with 5 holiday homes clustered around 2 swimming pools. Your hosts, Giles and Sarah, will do everything in their power to make your holiday relaxing and enjoyable.
There’s plenty for the kids to do on-site, with a unique climbing frame, sandpit, table football, table tennis, badminton and much more – and the balmy evenings are perfect for relaxing with other adults.
With an 11 x 7m swimming pool and a 5m filtered paddling pool, plus a games room with table football and table tennis, sandpit and play frame there will always be something for your children to do. The sandpit is in a shady area so small children can play there without fear of sunburn.
Our unique play frame is built around an ancient wine barrel rescued from one of the farm buildings on site. With a tightrope, monkey bars, swings and a secret den, it’s sure to keep your kids entertained for hours.
Pipedream is our unique cross between snooker and crazy golf! Navigate the five-hole course to get the highest score.
There is also a badminton set, a football goal, and a basketball net.
In addition, we have an extensive library of dvd's that you're welcome to borrow, as well as a more conventional book library should you run short of reading material.
St Jean d’Angély is the nearest town, a charming medieval centre with shops, bars, restaurants, museums, supermarkets, a fine swimming pool and water park, and much more.
The Charente Maritime is a vibrant region, with Roman ruins, many glorious churches, boating, water skiing, and of course many beaches.
You’ll find a wide range of beaches, from busy to secluded, to sandy to rockpool in the Charente Maritime.
