About this property

Lark Rise Farmhouse, Heated Pool, Play Barn. This villa is in a village setting.

Lark Rise is our largest holiday home.
Sleeps 11 plus cots or 15 plus cots (when joined to Robins Nest cottage via an internal, soundproofed, lockable hallway).

This beautiful longere property is set in a pretty, peaceful rural hamlet. You will be pleasantly surprised to see no more than a handful of cars each day. The locals are welcoming and are happy to help you practice your French skills. Suitable for larger families or groups,
Lark Rise is an extremely spacious 4 bedroom farmhouse style property with many traditional features including exposed stonework and beams, plus 2 ancient fireplaces with logburning stoves.
The south facing entrance hall, lounge and kitchen/dining room are extremely generous in size and afford guests room to ‘mingle’ or find a quiet spot. The sunny terrace and mature gardens provide further areas for relaxation in sun or shade.
Don’t however let the olde worlde charm mislead, this lovely period property has been renovated to exacting standards and has many modern amenities for example: wi-fi, luxury ‘twin oven’ range cooker, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, English tv.

The nearest market towns are Chef Boutonne, Melle, Lezay and Sauze Vaussais. The closest is an easy 7 minutes drive (or cycle) down quiet country lanes and has :-
* a colourful Saturday Market
* Chateau with Lake
* Choice of 2 Supermarkets and traditional small shops,
* Bars, restaurants, cinema, chemists/doctors/dentist/district nurse.

We pride ourselves on meeting the needs of all our guests, particularly the little ones. Happy kids tend to mean happy parents so to that end we provide, full size dropside cots, highchairs, stairgates, bedguards, babybaths, night lights, kiddies toilet seats and step ups, pushchairs, baby bouncer chair, factor 50 uv sun tent, electric socket protectors, games and toys.

Our 3 holiday properties share:
*A beautiful heated pool set in ‘child safe’ walled/gated garden.
*Adult bikes with child seat, bellelli bike taxi, tag along bike.
*Kids bikes, trikes, scuttlebugs, scooters.
*Cool Play barn with toddler play area, play house and kitchen, soft playmats lots of Duplo.
*Table football, table tennis table.
*Huge 'New' Sand Pit with Factor 50 SunSail and Pirate Ship Bow, see saw, slide, ride in car.

The gardens and parking areas are on level ground with few steps.
The grounds are completely enclosed and parking is on one of our drives, separate from child play areas.

Extensive information regarding sites of tourist interest is provided in each gite and many of our guests complain they run out of time to visit them all!
Being centrally situated in the Poitou Charentes means that day trips are possible to the Southern Loire, Atlantic coast, Northern Dordogne and Limousin.

Some of our suggestions include:
*Futoroscope, Puy du Fou, La Vallee des Singes (monkey world).
*Visit markets/brocantes and salvage yards.
*Go to open air concerts.
*Enjoy a meal with musical entertainment or English quiz night in nearby restaurant.
*Play a very reasonable priced round of golf.
*See superbike, modern/historic car racing.
*Experience the Tour de France.
*Visit chateaux. Admire beautiful architecture in La Rochelle, Poitiers and Cognac.
*Visit distilleries.
*Spend a day on upmarket Ile de Re and play ‘spot the celebrity’.
*Make sandcastles on the beach (coast, lake, river).
*Go canoeing.
*Learn how to make Chocolates.
If however you just want to ‘potter around’ locally we can recommend many lovely river or lakeside villages, play areas for the children, quiet cycling routes (flat or hilly) or perhaps just relaxing round the pool!
