Owner response

We are very happy with this review and have had a separate email from the Kent party saying how much they enjoyed their 2 weeks here at Maison Papillon. Whilst here they mentioned that they were disappointed with the Plan d'eau -the local lake- as the renovation and activities were incomplete and we have now heard that they will not be finished until next year.

This converted barn has some beautiful features including stone walls, beams, large family tables both inside and outside, and the heated, indoor pool is fabulous. The kitchen is well equipped but you can only use the laundry for 2 hours per evening and there is no drier. The very helpful owners live immediately next door (terraced) and visited at 10am every morning to open the pool and again at 10pm to close it and were often visible and audible in the garden through the pool glass windows to the owners garden and property, so we felt rather more like house guests than independent renters. The area is extremely quiet, with no amenities within walking distance, other than walking itself, or cycling if you bring bikes, which was tough on anyone left without a car. We were 3 generations of family; ,grandparents in 50s, young adults in their 20s, and the youngest being 2 and a good thing we are a close family in terms of privacy needs, for example to access the garden you have to walk through a bedroom; to access the laundry and downstairs shower you have to walk through a bedroom; the mezzanine bedroom is accessed and overlooks the double bedroom in the family room, and the family room includes a window over the twin room below. The master bedroom has a high window into the lounge which lets light through if the lounge is being used at night, and you can hear every word downstairs. There are no ceiling fans or aircon, just portable fans and it was very hot and airless at night with no proper windows anywhere, The mattresses are thin and hard. That said, we felt welcomed and had a lovely holiday, and one of the couples said they'd love to go again so thank you!
