About this property

Self Catering, Pet Friendly, Private Pool & Garden . This cottage/gite is in a village setting.

Palmerston Gite is a 4 star gite (Etolies de France) that sleeps 6. It has a double bedroom, twin bedroom and 2 further single beds on the mezzanine level above the sitting room. There is a lovely large bright kitchen with plenty of room for dining. The sitting room has UK Freesat tv, and if guests bring their own satellite box and card, you can watch all your favourite programmes. The gite has a separate bathroom with power shower and Jacuzzi bath. You access the private garden from the sitting room where there is a bbq/al fresco dining terrace, and then follow the path round to the private in-ground swimming pool. The pool area is secure for young children and the pool is opened up and ready for you to enjoy every morning.

For guests who bring their pets, the garden is fully secure and we are happy to keep and eye on them for the days when it may not be suitable to take your pet with you on a car trip.

There is plenty of off road parking in the front courtyard. There is further off street parking to the front of the gite.

Genneton (79150) is a typical French village and has a bar, open 6 days a week, where you can enjoy a coffee or a cool drink whilst ordering your bread and croissants. We are surrounded by many small villages and towns offering bars, supermarkets, markets and restaurants.

The beautiful city of Saumur is within a half hour drive and you can stop off in Montreuil Bellay en route to admire the chateau and church. The zoo (Bio Parc) and troglodytes at Doue la Fontaine are also a short drive so there are plenty of attractions as well as easy access to the fantastic Anjou and Loire Valley vineyards.

There is the offer of stocking up with a mini shop for guests arrival - after a long drive, going to buy in food and drink may be the last thing you want to do and as many supermarkets don't open on a Sunday (there is a local supermarket 8km from the village in Argenton les Vallees that opens on Sunday morning) this can help you get a good start to your holiday. A lovely old property with a huge kitchen. The Private Pool was superb. The weather allowed us to make the most of it.
The property was clean and comfortable.
The owners were friendly and welcoming. They were discreet and repected our privacy, They were ready to answer any questions we had.
The area is very quiet. The is not even a shop in the village. just the right place if you want to get away from it all. Just make sure you stock up on food before arriving or whilst on your travels.
There are some loverly little towns in the area to be visited.
I would definitely recommend this property to a friend or relative. We would definitely go back.

Owner response

Palmerston gite is situated in rural north Deux Sevres and it offers guests the opportunity to relax. Whilst it is a quiet village, there is a 'depot de pain' in the village where you can order fresh bread, croissants or any other boulangerie goodies daily, Monday-Friday. There's also a well stocked fishing lake with daily or weekly permits available and a just a 15 minute walk away is an equestrian centre with horse riding.

In 2017 the village regeneration will be completed and this may bring some investment into the village. As part of our on going improvements we would be happy to offer to shop for guests in advance so that they have their desired food stuff (this can be paid for on arrival). We already provide a welcome pack but as guests usually arrive on a Saturday, it can be difficult with the traditional Sunday closing times. We would like to thank our guests for their positive review. Haste ye back!
