About this property

Cosy Gite on a Beautiful Small Complex with Pool. This cottage/gite is in a village setting.

Pine cottage is a cosy and characterful little place which forms half of a converted barn, with a through lounge, dining area and kitchen equipped with a fridge, cooker, microwave and dishwasher, and downstairs bathroom with shower over bath.
The double staircase leads up to the bedrooms either side of the main roof beam. The bedrooms are arranged as one double and one twin, each with a velux window in the sloping ceiling with its original beams.
There are shared laundry and freezer facilities.

Pine cottage has a lovely secluded decked patio area surrounded by shrubs, with outdoor furniture and bbq and pretty wisteria and vines. Guests also have access to the 3/4 acre grounds including enclosed garden with play equipment and of course the gorgeous pool which also has a picnic area and a pool shelter/bar area.
We pride ourselves on being family-friendly. Stairgate, highchair and booster seats are available on request. The whole site is enclosed and set well back from the rural road. The recreation and pool areas are also separately gated.
Bikes are provided for you to explore the area on 2 wheels if you wish, and there is plenty to entertain the whole family on site. In the heart of the Southern Deux-Sèvres countryside, between Lezay and Sauzé-Vaussais in central Poitou-Charentes. Close to Poitiers, Limoges and La Rochelle, there's plenty to do in this beautiful part of France.
Via Brittany Ferries, approx. drive times are: St. Malo 3hrs 49min; Caen 3hrs 55 min; Le Havre 4hrs 25min; Cherbourg 4hrs 58min; Roscoff 5hrs 6 mins; or if you fancy a leisurely crossing or a twin-centre trip with Spain, Bilbao is approx. 5hrs 7mins, or Santander 5hrs 49mins.

Kitchen and dining

Small but well equipped kitchen with french doors, open plan to the rest of the living/dining area. Contains fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster, as well as cooker and all the equipment needed for light meals and snacks throughout your stay. On-site meals are also occasionally available if you don't fancy cooking for yourself! Table and chairs for 4 in the dining area.

Living rooms

Living area with tv including UK satellite, and dvd player. Open plan to the dining and kitchen area, and open staircase to the upstairs bedrooms, and with french doors opening to the decked patio area, secluded by trees, bushes and vines.

A double staircase leads to 2 bedrooms, either side of the large main beam of the barn. Sloping ceilings, beams and Velux windows add an abundance of character. One bedroom is a double, the other a twin. Cots and stairgates can be provided on request.

Downstairs bathroom with bath, wc and shower over the bath. All light and bright, with modern fittings.

Heating is not usually required during the summer months, in fact fans are what are normally needed, and these are provided in the bedrooms. Plug in heaters are available, however, if the weather happens to turn cooler.

The pool and gardens provide most entertainment on-site, as well as the barbecue. However, tv's, dvd players and satellite tv are also provided. We also have an abundance of toys and games, and bikes are available for the whole family to borrow if you wish. Free wi-fi is also provided.

Garden and outside

Set in 3/4 acres of safe and secure grounds, there is a gated garden with swings, and also a goal, badminton net and basketball hoop. The pool is the main attraction, and within this area also are picnic tables in the shade, and a covered bar area with fridge to keep the drinks cool! Patio area with outdoor table and 4 chairs outside the cottage.

Parking and garages

Private on-site parking at the end of the drive for several vehicles beyond the gates.

Visitor suitability

Ideal for couples, families or groups, as several of the gites can be rented together at one time to accommodate extended family or friends. Having children ourselves, we know how difficult it can be travelling with all the things a family can need, so we strive to provide as much as possible for you, including cots, high chairs, stairgates etc.

Year property purchased 2014
Why this location? The Poitou Charentes region is reported to be the second sunniest region in the whole of France! It is also very central for lots of great activities, but rural and peaceful too. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside and some beautiful towns and cities. There is also plenty for families in the area. It gives a real flavour of France!
Unique benefits of property The location of our property is exceptional - it is so close to several airports and a comfortable drive from the Northern ferry ports, giving lots of access options. As detailed above, it is rural yet accessible, with lots of attractions including zoos, aquariums, theme parks, cities, restaurants, beaches etc within easy access. It is also close to Bordeaux and Cognac.
The property itself has several gites (3 small and one larger) which means small or large groups can stay. We are extremely family friendly, having children ourselves, and provide as much as possible to save your car getting too full - from stairgates and travelcots to pool toys, garden toys, dvds, boardgames etc. We can even help arrange your shopping delivery from your favourite UK supermarket!
