Domaine Les Forges is an exclusive and comfortable holiday resort in the sunny Poitou-Charentes with ample facilities for (young) families and seniors. The bungalows were built on spacious and well tended, beautiful lots where you can enjoy a barbecue in your spacious garden or on the covered terrace. The park is car-free, so the kids can play safely.
The area lives up to the French ideal: pleasant weather, picturesque villages, cozy terraces, a relaxed atmosphere and, of course, excellent regional cuisine.
The immediate vicinity offers a 27-hole golf course and an ample amount of other recreational possibilities such as horseback riding, hiking, fishing, and cycling. The larger cities Parthenay and Poitiers, where you can go shopping, are located only a 30-minute drive away. There are ample attractions, animation, amusement park (Futuroscoop), etc. within a 50-kilometer radius. You can also plan a day trip to the beach (La Rochelle and Ile de Ré are only 1.5 hours away).

It’s an area that captivates every France enthusiast. It is no coincidence that the spirituous beverage known worldwide as symbol for lovers of life was first made in the soft limestone hills of this region. Tradition, quality of life and geniality comprise the spirit characteristic of this area. The Cognac region has a rich cultural and architectural heritage as illustrated by its wealth of history in which the Charente River, winding through the beautiful countryside, provided the inhabitants of the region with much wealth. As one might expect, the town of Cognac is the centerpiece of the Cognac region. The large cognac houses along the banks of the Charente in the town of Cognac, where the old streets attest to the city's rich history, combined with the surrounding Roman villages, vineyards and slow-flowing Charente, truly give you that genuine French feeling. Silver Mines From the seventh to the tenth century, Melle was a major silver producer and held an important position in the region. Under the town, some twenty kilometers of the network of passageways from the former silver mines are now accessible, part of which is open to the public. Futuroscope is approximately a half an hour drive from your holiday home. Futuroscope is one of France’s most popular amusement parks, with large cinemas, exciting attractions, and much more. Futuroscope is a multimedia, cinematography, and futuristic audio-visual theme park. It includes several cinemas that are based on 3D, IMAX, and 360¢ª technology, among other things. There are also shows and other attractions. The park buildings have a modern and futuristic architectural style. Over 25 impressive attraction experiences and the beautiful park landscape provide a sensational combination of fantasy and discovery that children and adults can enjoy together. The spectacular images of the huge movie screens draw you into the lifelike adventures and experiences. In the evening, you have the option of being immersed in the magical ambience of the fairytale-like evening show.
Would you like to spend a day by the Atlantic coast with your family? Visit La Rochelle and the island Ile de Ré, offering many tourist activities and sights; ideal destinations to enjoy the sea, sun, and beach. These towns also have much to offer culturally, and for children! La Rochelle is a pleasant town with nice shopping streets, countless cafes and the Vieux Port. Also visit Les Mimimes, the largest marina on the European side of the Atlantic Ocean with room for 3,500 boats. On Ile de Ré, you can enjoy the history, nature, and cozy villages with picturesque harbors. In the local restaurants and many cozy markets, you can try a variety of delicious oysters. Ever heard of the 'Vallée des Singes " (Monkey Valley) It is one of the animal parks located nearby your holiday home. More than 250 animals (including some 30 different types of primates) live in complete freedom in this naturally pristine 15-hectare environment. It is Europe’s largest terrain for chimpanzees and is home to the largest group of gorillas in France. Come enjoy feeding the different animals together with your children (possible a few times each day). Since 'Vallée des Singes'’s opening, more than 350 apes have been born, including 9 gorillas who are raised here in the utmost tranquility. There are a number of exhibitions allowing visitors to see how the park functions behind the scenes. Subjects of such exhibitions include: the arrival of a newcomer, care, a birth, and the scientific research that takes place here. Watch the film about the birth of Kwanza, a baby gorilla born here in our park! There is also a petting zoo for children with goats, sheep and a playground. Feeling hungry? It is a bit further from your holiday home in Domaine les Forges, but it is definitely worth the visit. Puy du Fou is a historic theme park in Les Epesses in the Vendée with wonderful medieval shows. It was elected “the world’s best historic theme park”! Puy du Fou brings history to life. Enjoy the many incredible shows with your children. For example, you can experience the Roman games in a gigantic amphitheater of 115 meters long with horse races and gladiator battles, and real lions. Have you ever seen a spectacular Viking attack on a fortress from the year 1000? Or a beautiful show with birds of prey in a castle ruins with over 150 birds? Visit a new attraction in an enormous theatre from the 17th century, where a sword fighting show from the time of king Louie the 8th is staged. You can also relive the ambiance in the reconstructed villages from the 18th and 19th century. From June until September, one of the largest water and firework spectacles in the world takes place on Friday and Saturday evening. This “Cinéscénie” is the perfect way to conclude your trip through time in Puy du Fou. Over 1,000 actors work on this show, and over 4,000 costumes and 300 pieces of fireworks are used. Near the park Domaine les Forges is the recreational park “Mouton Village”, in the charming village Vasles. Situated in the beautiful French landscape, far away from the hustle and bustle, the park encompasses 6 hectares. It contains an expansive variety of trees and bushes. You can wander the trails and enjoy the park. It is also great for young children. You will follow in the footsteps of Nicolas and his grandfather, the shepherd. They will guide you through the secrets of the park. Some of the highlights include watching how a shepherd’s dog herds sheep in the morning or how the sheep are sheered. In the afternoon, experience the lambs being fed. A photo exhibition can be viewed in a yurt (Mongolian nomad tent). The park, which is also accessible for disabled people, has ample facilities for children, a restaurant, playground, picnic facility, walking paths with signs, and various sports facilities.
