About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Daphne Moray

We have always been francophiles, having studied French and spent many happy holidays in France. We are both very keen golfers and enjoy sightseeing. We are very lucky to have found such a lovely place which we can visit several times a year.

Year property purchased 2012
Why this location? We visited the area several times and particularly enjoyed playing golf at Les Forges as well as at other courses in the area. The area is ideal for visiting the local attractions such as Futuroscope, the Marais Poitevin ('Green Venice') and only just over an hour from La Rochelle. It is also an easy drive from the ports and only half an hour from Poitiers Airport.
Whilst house-hunting we viewed several properties, and as soon as we walked onto the premises we knew this was the place for us! - despite requiring total renovation it had such a happy 'feel' about it. So we bought it and have spent the past 4 years having it completely renovated, and now it is ready for others to enjoy.
Unique benefits of property Le Papillon is located in a quiet, friendly rural village. We had a lovely stay at Le Papillon. The property is well equipped with all amenities / equipment for a self catering holiday. The beds were very comfortable and the small multi-games table was enjoyed and by our teenage children. The property is well situated for a quiet, peaceful and tranquil holiday. The garden is secluded with established mature planting and hedges on three sides giving a good deal of privacy,. The one side that is open is only viewable from a private and very quiet road. Dino's bar/restaurant just 100 meters away and an adjacent farm shop that opens 0830 - 1230 hours, selling croissants and local produce. There's a golf course with restaurant nearby. At night you can enjoy stargazing as there is very little light pollution. There is UK TV via freesat and the kids were also able to use their x-box. There is WiFi - pictures or video was slow to load but not an issue as most of our time was spent outside enjoying the sunshine. It's also well situated for visits (by car) to the larger towns (20-40 mins) when you need to shop or want something different for entertainment or dining and to visit the coast (90 mins). The property was clean and tidy and the owners were very easy to contact and provided excellent customer care. The description and pictures on the website are accurate. There is an end of stay cleaning service and bed linen and towels are provided, all at a reasonable price. A welcome pack is provided on arrival with all the basics you will need.

We had a lovely stay here in August. The garden was loved by the children as it is so big, the house had all the amenities needed. The house is in a quiet area which we liked, and the welcome pack provided by the owner was a very nice thought. The owner was more than helpful with any queries that we had and the house was excellent value for money, we would return. We visited La Rochelle from here which was just over an hours drive, and the aquarium was enjoyed by all, there is a municipal swimming pool in the local town which we wish we'd visited sooner as the children absolutely loved it. There is plenty to do in the area and the house is well situated to access these attractions.

The village is very small and peaceful with beautiful golf course and local bar/restaurant that was welcoming and serves good food. The give was charming. Comfortable, spotless and well equipped with a lovely spacious garden. Light airy rooms and a warm homely feel. We visited oceanile and puy de fou and also enjoyed Poitiers, which was very chic. Lovely owner and even a welcome pack. Can't wait to revisit.....we were a mixed group, myself and my 20 and 7 yr old sons and a friend of the family. All fitted in easily. A very happy holiday. Merci x
