Our 2 bedroom gite is set in the grounds of Le Petit Moulin along with our 3 bedroom gite and 2 chambres d'hotes. A shallow winding river runs through the grounds and passes through the old mill house with it's fully working wheel that used to grind the flour many years ago.
Our gite has 2 double bedrooms, one of them with bunkbeds. Both the rooms look out over the woodland area and mill pool. There is a shower room with toilet and an open plan lounge, kitchen and dining room with patio doors out in to its own large garden with picnic tables and a bbq. There is a tv in the lounge with dvd player. We have travelcots and baby equipment available on request.

We are blessed with being situated in a protected wildlife area and regularly see numerous species in the gardens such as many red squirrels, pine martens, coypu, deer and the occasional otter. As for birds we have daily sightings of the kingfishers, golden oriels, black woodpeckers, egrets, nightingales and cukoos.. We are on the European crane migration route, which is a site to see as thousands fly over the house en route to their breeding grounds.
As you arrive at Le Petit Moulin you will drive down the driveway into a courtyard, this is where you can leave your car parked throughout your stay.
The gite is suitable for families or couples.
Outside there is fishing in the mill pool by the mill house. 'River dipping' for the kids to see what animals they can find (water is around 2-5 inches deep so crocs on their feet will do). There is a communal salt water swimming pool with Roman steps. We have a selection of bikes for you to use free of charge. Two canoes for trips up the shallow river. Toys for toddlers as well as swings and slides. If you fancy a family game of football, rounders, cricket or boules we have a large open field which has the wooded area to one side to have some fun. All at no extra cost. You can also enjoy the wildlife around the property or just sit and relax in one of the many hammocks hanging around!
We are a husband and wife family run business set in the heart of sunny Poitou Charentes. We are lucky enough to live in a beautiful old cottage, which forms part of several pretty converted farm buildings and an ancient water mill. The gites and bed & breakfast cottages are accessed via our private driveway. There is a large in-ground saltwater swimming pool. We have large gardens for you to explore on both sides of a small shallow river. Hammocks are placed all over the grounds in quiet places

|Why this location?||We chose this location firstly because of its beauty and tranquility, secondly its climate, second sunniest place in France and thirdly close to pretty market towns, petit cities and tourist attractions ( like Futuroscope in Poitiers) and not forgetting the wildlife!|
|Unique benefits of property||Peace, tranquility, wildlife and activities.|
A bustling French market that's a real treat for all your senses! All the cheeses you can dream of as well as huge pans of local food bubbling away as you wander through the streets. Masses of regional produce from fish, meats and clothing. Well worth a visit.
Take one of our canoes up the shallow river and see if you can see some our plentiful wildlife such as kingfishers, purple herons, great egrets, golden oriels, deer, the occasional wild boar and many coypu (a large beaver type animal).
Futuroscope is France's second most popular tourist attraction after Disney. It's an amusement park with 3D and 4D futuristic rides. Hugely popular with visiting families and only 40 minutes easy drive from us.
This huge lake set in the bottom of a valley near us is well worth a visit. Either for a lovely walk or for the more adventurous there are giant zip wires across the entire lake. You can rent canoes and family sized pedalos here and set out on the water.
From here you can pick a map up join the many mountain bike trails along the valley.
We can arrange for you to visit the renowned houses like Remy Martin, Hennessy and Martell.. We can also recommend a couple of great boutique vineyards for you to visit and purchase some wine you won't find back home.
We are near several major towns and small cities that are all adorned with Romanesque churches and cobbled streets. Great restaurants and cafe culture. My favorites are Poitiers and La Rochelle.
