Stunning 18th century village house set in a tranquil and picturesque medieval village brimming with historical features. Plenty of space for large family groups both inside and out. The grounds feature a 10m x 5m heated swimming pool, trampoline and table tennis, with a large outdoor seating area/pergola for those lazy sun soaked meals utilitsing all the local markets have to offer. Two bbq’s and an additional terrace (we call this the G&T terrace) is perfect for watching the sun set. The property is gated front and back.
Inside, the gamesroom features a pool table and table soccer. Interesting features and architecture abound, and guests can enjoy the inside mezzanine dining area whilst watching whoever is cooking below. The kitchen is unusually well equipped, we are foodies and although we love rustic charm we’re not keen on roughing it and so all mod cons are here.
Our bedrooms are spacious and we use high quality linen, there are many configurations to suit families with children, the attic room is very popular with little ones.
We have an extensive library of books and dvd’s for all ages, and a PlayStation 2 seems to cover most ages. Of course there are the old fashioned kind of boardgames too. But if you must remain digital we have great broadband.
We are well equipped also for babies with two highchairs (Stoke Tripp Trapp with Babyset), babybath, steam steriliser, kids cutlery plates bowls and cups etc, changing mat, and anything else we could think of!
Masses to do both in the local village area or further afield, including a stunning beach at Chatelaillon Plage, check out our recommendations section.
The world is going a little crazy right now, escape from it all at our tranquil haven. You might even hear traffic one day when the farmers tractor rumbles up the road, otherwise enjoy the wonderful birdsong from the many birds including the swallows that like to dip into the pool mid flight whilst your sitting by the pool sipping something cold.
Once you've done your food shop you need never see another soul outside the gates of the house if you wish!
The spacious kitchen features a 6 ring gas hob and electric oven. There are 2 fridges, dishwasher, microwave, coffee-maker, kettle, hand blender etc, and all the pots, pans and equipment you could possible need. Table settings for 12 plus kids. There is also a separate small kitchenette in the gamesroom with hob, fridge sink etc.
The cosy living room is available for some cool quiet time, but the dining area is where most people tend to gather for social moments. This is, of course, in addition to the many large outdoor spaces for relaxing.
The configuration is as follows:
Ground floor: Double bedroom with en suite shower/toilet (can fit toddler or cot also)
First floor: Twin bedroom, further large family bedroom with one super king bed and one king
Attic Room: Twin beds
Separate “Gite” attached to house but separated by lockable doors: super king size bed with en suite shower/toilet.
There is an additional single z bed, a rocking crib, moses basket on stand that can go in most rooms. There is also a double sofa bed in the gamesroom.
Two en suite sower rooms with toilet, one further family bathroom with claw foot Victorian style bath and separate shower and toilet, then one other family bathroom with shower and toilet.
Additional downstairs loo.
Underfloor heating in the kitchen area, and radiators in every room except the attic. Or, if in winter 2 separate log burners keep us even more cosy.
An extensive library of books and dvd’s for all ages including most latest releases and plenty of box sets to catch up on. Lots of boardgames, PlayStation 2 and games. Darts and table tennis are available for great tournaments.
We have good broadband. There is a music system in the dining room that will connect to MP3/iPhones etc and this can be moved around the house.
The games room with pool table and table soccer provides many evenings of group fun.
The trampoline is a source of great fun too, and most people spend an awful lot of time in and around the pool!
The house is gated front and back with secure parking for at least 4 cars within the grounds. Gardens at both front and back are full of rustic charm. At back the 10m x 5m heated swimming pool and trampoline are great fun, loungers and large umbrellas provide shade, and the giant patio/pergola hosts both a long table that seats 12 and a sofa area. At the front of the house off the kitchen the Gin and Tonic terrace is the most perfect setting to watch the sun go down whilst the birds gather. We have both a Weber bbq and an old fashioned stone one set into the side of the house.
Secure parking for at least 4 cars is available at the end of the front garden under what we call the hangar (roofed three sided barn).
This property is suitable for a large range of ages, and we often host grandparents and babies alike. As there are many level changes it would not be suitable only for those with severe mobility issues.
We are a British family based in the UK who use the house as often as we can as a complete getaway from our busy lives. We dont really like to rough it though, so the house is kitted out accordingly and we enjoy great food and wine! Swimming all day followed by gin and tonic or fizz on one of the terraces in summer is just the thing. Cosying up by the wood burners and walks around our picturesque village suit us just fine in winter, or else we hire bikes (they will deliver and collect).
