Les Grands Coudrais is a group of 3 restored cottages set in over 3 acres of beautiful open countryside in a small hamlet just 2km from the pretty market town of Civray.
Dating from the 18th century and once working farm buildings, the cottages are full of character. Many of their original stone walls and exposed beams have been retained and they have been carefully renovated and equipped to ensure your holiday is perfect.
La Bergerie cottage has an enclosed garden with a sunterrace, teak garden furniture and a stone barbecue. It shares the main grounds with large swimming pool, play area, boules pitch, table tennis and covered outdoor seating area. Horse riding, canoeing and fishing are all available nearby and we have bicycles and golf clubs available for you to use.
Families will adore the Valley of the Monkeys, Futuroscope and the Castle of the Eagles, all within easy reach. For history lovers, the area is full of fascinating sights from superb Romanesque churches to the pilgrimage route of Santiago de Compostela which passes close by. Or you may just prefer to relax by the swimming pool surrounded only by the sounds of the countryside and views of corn, wheat and sunflower fields.
All bed and kitchen linen, towels and pool towels are provided for you free of charge and you'll find plenty of little extras - including a tray of the local apéritif in the living room, toiletries in the bathroom, produce from the vegetable garden, eggs from our hens and a welcome pack on arrival. Fast, free wi-fi is available in all the cottages. We ask you not to smoke inside, but you are welcome to do so in your garden using the ashtray provided. We welcome well-behaved dogs.
We live in the main farmhouse on the property with our 14 year old daughter and although we are always on hand to offer help and assistance, we're also discreetly in the background if you don't!
We look forward to welcoming you at Les Grands Coudrais for a very special holiday.
