Le Mas provides comfortable, family friendly holiday accommodation for 10 people, plus 2 infants in cots. The whole property, including an enclosed half acre of garden and heated pool, is available for your exclusive use.
The property is located in the rolling countryside of Poitou Charentes, on the border between Vienne and Charentes. It has been thoughtfully renovated to provide a comfortable and spacious home from home, while retaining much of its character and charm.
Our large, well equipped kitchen/diner is great for family dining. The table seats 10, and we also have 2 highchairs.
The kitchen offers an electric oven and induction hob, American fridge-freezer which dispenses ice and filtered water, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and kettle.
Off the kitchen is a separate utility room with washing machine, tumbledryer, sink and separate toilet. There is also an iron and ironing board.
Our large salon has frenchdoors opening onto the east and south sides of the garden. There is a trio of 3 seater sofas, a television with access to British satellite channels, a desk, a shelf of books and a small dvd library.
First floor - One double bedroom and en suite bathroom.
Ground floor - 2 double bedrooms, each with separate single day bed and en suite bathrooms. One twin room with en suite shower room.
Three en suite bathrooms, each with toilet, basin and bath with shower over.
One en suite shower room, with toilet, basin and shower cubicle.
The television has free-to-air British satellite channels. There are boardgames, cards, and books available, plus a small library of dvds.
The half acre garden surrounds the house on 3 sides. The north side garden, accessible from 2 of the downstairs bedrooms, is lawned. The south side garden, accessed from the salon, has a small patio that makes the most of the late evening sun. The east side includes the pool, surrounded by a terrace, and a large patio table that seats 10.
The swimming pool is 10 metres long, and is heated throughout the season. It has a safety cover, which conforms to all current legislation, and prevents children from accessing the water when the pool is not in use.
Our car port provides covered parking for 2 large or 3 small cars.
Le Mas is suitable for guests of all ages. With three-quarters of the property on the ground floor level, it is handy for anyone with limited mobility. There are 2 steps down from the salon to the downstairs bedrooms, and 2 steps from the east patio to the pool terrace. There is one step up to the south side patio.
Le Mas is also suitable for families with young children. We have 2 cots, 2 highchairs and 2 stairgates on the main stairs. In the kitchen we have a microwave steam steriliser and a hand blender, as well as colourful plastic plates and mugs for our younger guests. There are 2 toddler step-stools, toilet seat, potty and changing mat.
Upstairs we have an activity loft that will keep our younger visitors occupied on those occasional dull days, or early in the morning. There are toys, games, puzzles, books, and a childrens video library. The tv can access British satellite channels via the satellite box in the salon, which includes CBBC and CBeebies. We also have a games console with a number of childrens games.
For those who like to go out and about there is a wide variety of attractions within an hour and a half of Le Mas. If you prefer delving into the past, there are prehistoric sites and Romanesque architecture, while those wanting a cinematic experience might be interested in the Parc du Futuroscope, just north of Poitiers. Anyone who lives to shop is within 90 minutes of four major towns and cities: Poitiers, Angouleme, Niort and Limoges. There are also numerous smaller outlets selling local produce, not to mention the markets held in towns and villages throughout the region. Families with children can find a good selection of attractions catering for the younger members of the family, such as the Vallee des Singes near Romagne, while there are numerous leisure and activity parks within an hours drive.
The property and all its facilities were fantastic and it was in a lovely picturesque setting.
The only small downside was the lack of amenities in the immediate locality and the bakery facilities in the next village seemed to have closed down altogether (or stopped for the summer).
Fantastic holiday, the house is really well equipped, we didn't want for anything. It is in a very quiet hamlet, if you want bars and restaurants you'll have to travel, if you want peace and quiet this is in abundance. The local town is really nice, great little pizza restaurant and traditional French restaurant set alongside the river with markets on Tuesdays and Fridays.
We went with our two year old son and my Mom and Dad, the house is bigger that we expected and we didn't get under each others feet at all.
Thanks for a lovely holiday...
