Heating is not normally a requirement at Trebuchon with summer temperatures last year regularly exceeding 32 degrees. Fans are supplied throughout the house.
As well as the walks directly from the property and the space that our land allows you and your family, we also have a large selection of books in the house, Sky tv with access to multiple channels, boardgames, boules set and of course don't forget the pool!!!
Our pool constantly receives praise from our guests with most families spending their days centred around it. Security fenced with padlock for parent. The pool is fully heated and kept clean by ourselves to a high standard and checked on a daily basis. We have large sunbathing terraces around the pool with sunbeds for your use.
The gardens around the property mean a lot to us and we do pride ourselves on them. We were lucky enough this year to win the local gardens competition (not a mean fete to compete against the French and their vegetable gardens!). Within the 32 acres of land we have 8 acres of woodland, meadows and gardens surrounding the house on all sides with an orchard to the rear.
You enter the property along a private lane into the main courtyard. We have recently fenced this courtyard for extra privacy to your stay and bonus safety to any children. The courtyard is large and is formed from a U shape of old barns. Ample car parking both under cover and outside. Our gardens during the seasons are full of spring bulbs, lilac, lupins, roses, lilies, hysteria, geraniums, gaura to name but a few and you will occasionally see us maintaining the grounds and keeping the extensive lawns under control.
There is a large circular dining table and whicker tables for 8 plus an outside bbq..
We have extensive outside car parking, as well as internal parking for your use.
We believe the property really does suit all as has been proven with visitors over the years from one or two family occupation, retired couples, sports fanatics, nature lovers and even just couples....
You will be greeted with a welcome basket of local items to help with your first night including cheese, wine, French bread etc together with croissants and juice for your breakfast.
We can arrange a welcome meal (at an extra cost) as we can provide evening meal by request or even a large local farmers produce basket...
There is a full information book, brochures and places to visit kept in the hall for your use and of course we will be around to give any advice you may need. We stay from time to time in a completely separate barn on the property and will not impinge on your privacy.
We bought Trebuchon as a family home and from young to old have truly enjoyed all it has to offer. Working hard in the UK, we can't wait to enjoy the rhythms and peace that the house and land offer to all.

|Why this location?||We fell in love with the beautiful rural location, medieval villages, dramatic crystal clear sweeping rivers, local markets, cafes, French way of life and the great feel that the area has. Manoir de Trebuchon is set in its own private grounds of almost 32 acres of meadows, woodland and gardens - the nature around us is superb and the night skies are stunning. Yet, we are ideally located close to local villages and the beautiful cathedral town of St Savin with all the facilities you would want.|
|Unique benefits of property||Peace, tranquility, our own grounds, large heated pool, wildlife in abundance, rare birds, butterflies, great local restaurants, beautiful villages and of course the wine! Location, location, location.....|
We are in an absolutely superb area for walkers, cycling and riding. You can walk from every single direction from the house with no need to touch a road. We have direct access onto 350 kms of tracks, woodland walks, disused railway lines, river walks and so much more. I have my own horse as I couldn't resist the amazing riding and tracks ...
There are a myriad of various restaurants, cafes, bars, etc in the area and enough to tempt and satisfy all without a doubt. We keep a details visitors book in the house with various comments and recommendations of places to visit and contact details.
One of our very favourite places. A Medieval village and castle walls perched up high overlooking the River. A must to see with some great restaurants, tea rooms, and cafes. It is recognised as one of the most 'beautiful villages in France' and has 4 stars as a 'Fleuri village'. Quaint twisting cobbled streets, tumbling flowers, breathtaking views and so worth a visit. As well as a family pizzeria, one of our favourite places to eat is 'Les Gouts de Mets', perched under the old castle ruins and offering superb food.
The rivers in our area are absolutely beautiful, so clear and with beautiful wildlife in abundance including herons, kingfishers, fireflies, butterflies and hovering water insects by the handfuls. We thoroughly enjoying hiring a kayak in the local village - you can do this for as many hours as you want, leaving your car at the destination point (assisted by the owner). En route on the Gartempe River in Nalliers, you can stop at a local woodland site known as 'The Beach' where you can have a light lunch, wine etc. There are also public bbqs and a rural children play area. En route you will paddle over weirs, past chateaux, beautiful gardens and villages. Its a real treat !
We are lucky enough to have a great little riding school just 3kms distance from us where riding and basic lessons are offered. Young children are also catered for really well and parents can lead them on safe ponies on clearly marked woodland trails. I can personally recommend this stable yard as my own horse spends the winter there.
Local towns really worth visiting. Montmorillon is an ancient old town with again a beautiful river running through it and know as the 'Cite de Livres'. Great old book shops, calligraphy and macaroon specialsts, restaurants, cafes with terraces overlooking the river and weekly market on a Wednesday. Chauvigny is again an old town with a superb large Saturday weekly market - really worth going to with a superb fish stall. At the top of the town is the old Cathedral with views over the whole of the town and from here they also run Eagle displays - well worth visiting
Futuroscope is a must to go to with children or indeed without ! We love it and they have some excellent rides to suit all. Probably need a whole day to take advantage of this as their day extends into night time fireworks and parades at different times of the year. It is about a 40 minute drive from us.
