Lee and I have owned the cottage at La Mare for almost 10 years now. We are totally in love with France and all things French! We bought another property, a small Medieval Chateau in the Hautes Vienne region in the Spring of 2015 and we are currently in the process of turning this into another delightful holiday destination. Please look at our other ad for further details. We now spend more than half of our time in France and can certainly recommend it - come and see for yourself!

|Unique benefits of property||The Chateau Mareuil is a small but perfectly formed medieval chateau situated in the Haute Vienne region close to the town of Montmorillon on the river Gartempe between the cities of Poitiers and Limoges. It boasts the stylish chateau itself, a pretty cottage where the owners live, a gamesroom and bar, library and office facility, an ancient Donjon and several other outbuildings, amongst them is a newly refurbishes studio appartment for 2 people. What an amazing experience for our family to have stayed at this chateau. The building is truly beautiful and to our 3 and 5 year old nothing short of magical. Inside is the perfect blend of original features but with beautiful bathrooms and a superbly equipped kitchen.
The chateau and the facilities were clearly done to the highest standard and as a home, not just a holiday rental. By far the best swimming pool that we have ever had as part of a holiday rental, clearly built with no expense spared, all set in amazing French countryside.
The holiday was made even more special by the lovely owners, who could not have been more welcoming and accommodating.
A big thank you to you and your family for being super guests! Thanks for this geat review and we sincerely hope to welcome you again at Chateau Mareuil one day.
Stunning accommodation in a beautiful rural setting. A truly relaxing week surrounded by nature. Several days we were happy just to stay around the chateau, relaxing and exploring locally. The welcome was warm and our hosts could not do enough for us whilst also being unobtrusive. Lots of lovely places to visit within a 20 to 40 minute drive.
Details: comfortable beds and luxury shower room. We had use of the large kitchen with range and cooker. There was a charming ‘balcony’ off the salon in the chateau for evening drinks overlooking the gorgeous view. The pool was in the process of being built and we are looking forward to returning once this has been completed.
In summary: we had a really lovely week in this beautiful chateau and all.came home refreshed and relaxed, including my 11 year old. I can’t recommend this enough.
