About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Belinda Prince

Lee and I are totally in love with France! We bought our first property here in 2007, a charming Normandy cottage. In 2015, we fulfilled our ambition to own a chateau - we bought Chateau Mareuil, a petit medieval chateau right in the middle of France. We are very excited as Chateau Mareuil is featured on Channel 4's popular "Escape to the Chateau - DIY"! We now live here in France; our Normandy cottage, our beautiful chateau and our studio apartment are all available for your next holiday.

Year property purchased 2015
Why this location? Chauteau Mareuil is a unique historic property set in the rural tranquillity of South West France. It is the ideal holiday destination for sharing with family and friends - perfect for 2 familes holidaying together or groups of fun loving friends.
Unique benefits of property The Chateau Mareuil is a charming bijoux medieval chateau, situated in the Vienne region close to the town of Montmorillon on the river Gartempe, between the cities of Poitiers and Limoges. It boasts the stylish chateau itself, a pretty cottage where the owners live, a separate games room and bar, an ancient Donjon and several other outbuildings, amongst them is a newly refurbished studio apartment for 2 people plus room for a baby too. A brand new luxury 12m x 6m pool is also available to our guests. Dating back to 1250, this is a historic group of buildings set high overlooking it's own riverbanks and surrounding countryside. In addition, Chateau Mareuil is featured in Series 2 and 3 of Channel 4's "Escape to the Chateau DIY".

We had an absolutely wonderful week at the Chateau Mareuil. There were 25 of us (lots of families so happy to share rooms). The buildings are impressive and Lee and Belinda can't do enough for you. I've only put the local amenities as a five due to the distance you need to travel to get to any shops/bars but as this is what we knew and wanted for us this was a 10. The swimming pool is lovely (we had some jazz music round the pool as part of our celebrations). The games room is lovely in the evening = lots of killer pool. We played the most intense games of boules you've ever seen. We had 25 for dinner each evening in the Salon and a really enjoyable wine tasting in the cellar. The sounds of the owls, woodpeckers and the cuckoo break through the silence, The journey flying in to Limoges is easy - just under an hour away and hiring a car is easy. The bathrooms are stunning as are the views down to the sky garden and the river. I can't wait to return later in the year.

Owner response

Many thanks Tina for your wonderful review - it was an absolute pleasure to welcome you, your family and friends and we are so glad you had a good time here. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

What an amazing experience for our family to have stayed at this chateau. The building is truly beautiful and to our 3 and 5 year old nothing short of magical. Inside is the perfect blend of original features but with beautiful bathrooms and a superbly equipped kitchen.

The chateau and the facilities were clearly done to the highest standard and as a home, not just a holiday rental. By far the best swimming pool that we have ever had as part of a holiday rental, clearly built with no expense spared, all set in amazing French countryside.

The holiday was made even more special by the lovely owners, who could not have been more welcoming and accommodating.

Owner response

A big thank you to you and your family for being super guests! Thanks for this geat review and we sincerely hope to welcome you again at Chateau Mareuil one day.

Stunning accommodation in a beautiful rural setting. A truly relaxing week surrounded by nature. Several days we were happy just to stay around the chateau, relaxing and exploring locally. The welcome was warm and our hosts could not do enough for us whilst also being unobtrusive. Lots of lovely places to visit within a 20 to 40 minute drive.

Details: comfortable beds and luxury shower room. We had use of the large kitchen with range and cooker. There was a charming ‘balcony’ off the salon in the chateau for evening drinks overlooking the gorgeous view. The pool was in the process of being built and we are looking forward to returning once this has been completed.

In summary: we had a really lovely week in this beautiful chateau and all.came home refreshed and relaxed, including my 11 year old. I can’t recommend this enough.
