About the Owner/Advertiser, Mrs Lucy Wigzell

We live in a village close to Bath, England and have had our house in Arçay for 20 years. We love spending time in Arçay and have had great fun over the years with local artisans who have helped us make it a great family holiday home and neighbours becoming friends. It is a house for gatherings and we enjoy it most when we have housefuls of grandparents, parents, growing children, cousins and friends joining us out there.

Year property purchased 1999
Why this location? I knew the Loire Valley from holidaying there as a child and so when we thought to look to buy something in France it was the first place we headed for. The ease of getting here, unspoilt by too many tourists, the beautiful magnificent chateaux and towns with great markets and restaurants were real positives, as well as the fact that the sun shines more south of the Loire river.
Unique benefits of property Absolute privacy! The enclosed gardens and pool are surrounded by the house and all of our outbuildings with no overlooking neighbours. There are separate areas for either lounging by the pool, snoozing in the hammock or a game of table tennis in the gamesroom. The spacious rooms inside the house and outside eating areas are great for entertaining big families and barbecuing under shady trees, bright sunshine or big silent starry skies.

We very much enjoyed our stay at La Touche which is a wonderful place for children. Completely private and safe, including plenty of outside space to play and relax in. The swimming pool is large and well maintained. The house is spacious and characterful with all necessary amenities provided.
Bob, who keeps the pool in good order, is a very helpful and a source of good information for the surrounding area.
Overall we were very impressed with La Touche and can thoroughly recommend it as a family holiday home.

Owner response

We had a fantastic week at La Touche and wished we had stayed for two weeks. The house is beautiful, very comfortable, spacious and well equipped. We were travelling with two toddlers and the house catered for them - stair gates, toys etc which was really nice. The outdoor space was perfect for the children as it is completely enclosed, and totally private. There is a wonderful pool which we used everyday and the kids loved.
Locally there is a supermarket down the road, a lake about 15 minutes away and the Loire river about half an hour away.
Booking process and instructions were very smooth and Lucy the owner is great to deal with. Bob, who maintains the property was really helpful and was also a great source of knowledge about the local area!
We would love to return one day.

Owner response

Thank you and it would be a pleasure to see you return - 2 weeks next time! Lucy
