Wibble’s Retreat offers you a converted, 2 storey barn, including beams and character, with modern convenience, comfortable and fully furnished home.
There is exclusive use of the swimming pool, which is open between April and September. Please note that the garden is shared with the owners.

There is a gravelled driveway at the rear of the property, which is accessed via the adjoining lane. This provides secure off-road parking.
The ground floor has a well equipped modern kitchen, with a hallway leading to the utility room and downstairs cloakroom. From the kitchen is a step up to a large dining room with double doors to the lower patio.
You can sit outside on the two-tier patio to enjoy the sunshine, or relax on a sun lounger in the garden, overlooking the swimming pool. There is a large patio table and 6 chairs, along with a 4 burner gas bbq for your use.
The staircase leads up to a spacious sitting room with a widescreen tv, which has a UK Freesat box connected, so that you can keep up with your favourite UK programmes.
There is a modern family bathroom with a shower, heated towel rail and a selection of hand and bath towels.
Upstairs there are electric central heating radiators in the sitting room and both bedrooms for the winter months.
On your arrival, you will find an initial supply of dishwasher tablets, also coffee, tea, sugar, bottled water, butter, milk and of course a bottle of wine, so that you don’t need to dash to the shop for basics.
There is a swimming pool which you are very welcome to use and you will find suitable towels in the downstairs cloakroom.
The superb wi-fi in the gîte will enable you to keep in touch online and there is a good mobile phone signal here too.
The large fully-fitted kitchen has an oven, hob, fridge-freezer, microwave, family sized dishwasher, toaster, kettle, coffee-perculator, plenty of utensils, crockery and ovenware.
There is also a downstairs cloakroom.
There is a large dining room, with a modern dining table, 4 dining chairs, a buffet sideboard containing more crockery, glassware, table mats, napkins, 2 armchairs alongside a bookcase.
The large living room is situated upstairs and contains two sofas, 2 armchairs, a coffee-table, a large flatscreen television with UK Freesat channels available. There are also 2 radiators for cold weather comfort.
The master bedroom is carpeted and has a double bed, plenty of drawer space and an ornate, freestanding hanging rail, with loads of hangers for your clothes. A doorway leads to the modern fitted en - suite shower room, with heated towel rail. There are 4 pillows, a duvet, bed linen and a selection of hand and bath towels. There is a hair dryer provided.
The twin bedroom has 2 single beds, plenty of drawer space and an ornate, freestanding hanging rail, with plenty of hangars for your clothes.
Both bedrooms have wall mounted electric radiators for comfort during cold weather.
There is an en suite shower room, with heated towel rail, to the master bedroom.
The main bathroom has a walk-in shower, with a mounted hand basin and drawers underneath, low level wc and heated towel rail.
Both bathrooms have large mirrors and shaving mirrors.
There are wall mounted electric thermostat controlled radiators in the sitting room and both bedrooms for winter use, November-March. There are heated towel rails in both bathrooms.
There is a large flat screen television in the sitting room with Freesat for UK tv, a stereo cd player, books and boardgames in the dining room.
Outside there is a double level terrace with patio table, 6 chairs and a large gas bbq, leading to the garden, which includes the 8x5m swimming pool which is 1.25m deep, so deep enough for swimming but older children can safely stand up. There is a newly laid (2018) sun deck. Please note that the garden is shared with the owners.
There is parking to the rear of the property on a gated, gravel driveway, or you may also park at the front of the property.
Minimum age of primary renter is 25. The property is not suitable for youth groups.
Please note that there is an enclosed staircase and also steps from the patio to the garden area.
Transport is required, as we are approximately 4 km from supermarkets and 6 km from restaurants.
We request that outside noise is kept to a minimum after 11pm, as a courtesy to our neighbours.
The property is suitable as a base for sightseeing in the Vienne and the Charente. It is also the perfect base for house hunting in the Vienne, Charente and Deux-Sevres regions.

We are on the edge of a rural village, which is perfect for cycling and walking, but close to all amenities and locations for family days out, sightseeing and activities to suit all ages.|
We are about 15km away from Verteuil-sur-Charente and it's stunning Chateau, There is also the working water mill, Moulin Verteuil, where they make and sell world famous Brioche as mentioned by James Martin on his French Adventure.
A fabulous day out for fun lovers, it has an indoor 50m pool with diving areas, a sauna and a seasonal outdoor wave pool, a lazy river ride and a water slide.
It is next door to Le Plan d’Eau Saint Yrieix, which has a man made beach, there are also facilities for tennis, volleyball, pétanque, walking and cycling, there is also a children’s play area, along with a lakeside cafe for meals and snacks.
A great day out for children and adults, where you can see primates roaming free, there are frequent talks (in French) at feeding times and a chance to see them up close. You can walk amongst the more placid species and there is also a petting park, with goats, ducks, donkey and pigs, as well as several play areas.
Futuroscope is a theme park in Poitiers, which is based on multimedia, cinematographic and audio-visual techniques, a fun day out for families.
You can take short or long trips along the local rivers, equipment supplies includes life jackets, your choice of paddles, watercway maps and a water safe barrel for valuables.
There are beautiful beaches providing a range of nautical activities, or simply a day relaxing on the beach!
Alternatively, the Forest de la Coubre, which is a fantastic place for cycling, golf and horse riding.
There is plenty of choice of restaurants and bars.
For history lovers, there is Oradour-sur-Glane where, on the order of then President Charles de Gaulle, the old town has been made into a museum, to commemorate the Nazi massacre of the 10th June 1944.
You can walk the streets, as you read the harrowing events of that awful day in which 642 inhabitants were massacred.
There is a vibrant new village, which has been built on a nearby site.
Confolens is one of the two sub-prefectures of the Charente region, originating as a fortress town.
It has several handsome 19th century buildings, built by Paul Abadie and features cobbled streets, with several open and covered market areas, regular Brocantes, quaint shops and even a restaurant specialising in fish and chips!
Angouleme is the capital of the Charente department and is nicknamed the “balcony of the southwest”
The Circuit de Remparts motor racing event, which is a street circuit around the ramparts and past the Cathederal, which is held the Sunday of the middle week of September each year. It’s the worlds largest gathering of pre-war Bugattis and Ferraris. Many British vintage and classic cars also attend the event.
