The best zoo in Europe according to our Russian journalist guest. Very popular with both children and guests, some have to be persuaded to go "we are not zoo people" but once back they always say thanks for telling us to go.
Wonderful Saturday market, lovely squares, the world famous Cadre Noire horse stables, Place Saint Pierre, oysters and glass of wine 6 Euros, many restaurants in lovely settings. Great walks along the Loire then upwards climb to the picturesque chateau overlooking the Loire. 30 minute drive away.
Brocante market. Restaurant on the river Thouet. Barbican restaurant opposite the chateau with its Moule Marinaire and chips.
Very popular lovely town with lovely, historic streets, restaurants and lovely walks along the river.
Had a great week at La Boulangerie, John and Margaret were hospitable, friendly and welcoming, on site but not at all intrusive. The accommodation was perfect for a couple or couple with small child. The bed was very comfy, the cottage was well equipped and very clean, there was a generous hand with the housekeeping, plenty of big towels, nice linen, good welcome pack of food and a nice bottle of wine. Everything was thoughtfully provided and made the week very relaxing. The pool was a good size and well maintained. We didn’t go far but nice walks from the gite, we walked through the fields to the Chateau of Termay, visits to Saumur and good local wine tasting. Also good local supermarket. The chateaux of the Loire west of Tours are about a 30 minute drive, our favourite was Azay-le-Rideau but our favourite thing was lazing by the pool. Would warmly recommend for a relaxing break amidst in lavender in a beautiful setting. Thank you for a lovely break!
It was a delight having you stay.
