Our gite is located in a beautiful rural village with over 250 inhabitants spanning several generations who still live within the commune.
It is a farming village, and from time to time you will see our local farmers working in the fields of maize, rapeseed or sunflowers depending on what was produced the previous year. In Maisonneuve the next village along from our gite are vineyards and a very good shop which will happily sell you a few bottles after you try one or two, but I would recommend you take a walk.
There is a windmill and museum which has the history of our farming village on display .
There are wonderful weekly markets providing fresh produce, dairy meat and fish. Be prepared to arrive before noon to enjoy the full benefits of a traditional French market experience.
During the months of June, July and mid August there are plenty of concerts to enjoy some of which are free entry, look out for the publicity in the information pack.
During August there is always an outdoor opera by professionals in the Gallo Romaine outdoor theatre at Sanxay, check it out on line to be able to book early.
Ground floor entrance leads into fully equipped fitted kitchen with fridge-freezer, electric hob and oven.
Washing machine and dishwasher. Basic starter pack of cleaning materials provided.
Kitchen is equipped with kettle, coffee-machine, toaster. Pots and pans, cutlery, plates, bowls, dishes cups saucers mugs.
Basic supply of cleaning materials are provided to start you off, with tea towels and cleaning cloths.
There is one highchair provided.
Plastic plates and plastic cups are provided in the kitchen.
There is a sideboard with a flat screen tv which has French and UK Channels. Small selection of dvds, boxed games and books for small children.
Ground floor main bedroom has a very large bed which if you prefer and request in advance can be separated to 2 singles. All bed linens and bath towels are included (with the exception of the pool towels).
Located on first floor has 2 twin beds bedside table with lamp.
There is a small W.C with hand basin.
There is a baby cot with baby bedding provided, and can be set up in advance of arrival.
Main bathroom is located on the ground floor off the kitchen.
It has a shower and separate bath which has a shower hand held hose. Heated towel rail.
There are radiators and underfloor heating.
Wi-fi is available password in information pack.
French and UK tv channels available. Small selection of dvd's and boxed games are available with the sideboard in the gite.
A folder is located in the gite which has a list of the current tourist attractions in and around the area.
Best cinema can be found in Poitiers just opposite Hotel de Centre Ville.
Free parking next to the gite. The terrace outside the gite has a barbecue, table and chairs.
Garden umbrella provided during the summer as the terrace is a sun trap.
Free outdoor next to gite, if you wish to park outside on main road you can but directly opposite the gite.
Discuss with owner who lives on-site, however we cannot permit additional over night guests and no parties to disturb our neighbours.
We have a swimming pool which is available for gite guests to use, if they wish during the open season of May to September.
Rules of use are listed on the entry gate and in the information pack.
However children under 16 must be accompanied at all times by an adult at the pool.
No food or drink to be consumed in the pool area.
Your are required to shower before using the pool, for your enjoyment please do not wear any sun tan lotion prior to swimming in the pool .
The pool is 8m x 4m and 1.5m deep. Small children not toilet trained must wear swimming diapers for health reasons as well as for the pleasure of those using the pool.

We are in a quiet village and a car is needed to be able to explore beyond the village, however taking the time to walk around and explore the community is a must as every home nearby is different and the locals are very friendly.
We live on-site and should you have any queries just ask but we will not involve ourselves in your holiday but if you need us we are here .
Nearest bakery is 5 minute walk from the front door. After that you will need a car to venture further afield.
In Thenezay which is only 9 km away there is a mini mart with petrol station (card payment only), pharmacy, bar tabac, auberge restaurant. Mobile pizza van twice weekly.
In Parthenay ample shops and fast food restaurants and cafes. Chinese restaurant Panda Wok great value for money pay one price food and drink included.
Go the opposite direction towards Poitiers and you have even more choice too.

From mid June to Mid August throughout our region as well as France in general you can take the opportunity to go to some of the free concerts which are promoted regional website for Heure du Vagabonde,always great atmosphere for all ages with popular international acts.
First weekend of August our village has had a fete de recettes, which gives all visitors the chance to sample traditional fayre of food and drink.
The village is calm and the locals are very friendly take the time to walk around and explore the area.

Superb for shopping , bars restaurants most weekends there are usually some events within the the confines of the town hall, be it music , sport art exhibitions check out the local Centre press or Le Nouvelle newspapers on a Friday for details of whats on, as well as Facebook too.
Our commune has an ancient windmill just 4k away, a steady walk to it and enjoy the views, walk along a bit further and you will come across our agricultural museum which is open at different times throught the year, for more details ask at the local Mairie.
The first saturday in August we have the festival of recettes, where the locals offer samples of savour or sweet local dishes as well as samples of home made pineau, fortified wines and red or white wines.
Very popular event every year and people come from other departments to enjoy the activities, such as traditional music, games and sometimes story telling.
