|Why this location?||The Poitou Charentes region, located in the south west of France is renowned for having one of the most pleasant climates in France along with the French Riviera. Winters are really mild and thanks to the oceanic climate, summers are hot but not muggy!
Poitou-Charentes is lined along its western side by the Atlantic Ocean. As a result Poitou-Charentes soaks in the sweetness of the ocean climate which creates a micro-climate on the littoral.
Poitou Charentes benefits from 2,400 sunshine hours a year and is the hottest and sunniest place of the whole Atlantic coast. However, there is a difference between the littoral with its warm and gentle weather and the hinterland of Poitou Charentes where the climate is more continental, so either dryer or damper than on the coasts.
The Poitou Charentes region of France is a verdant one, which gets just enough rainfall which, blended to the long hours of sunshine, enable the successful agriculture as well as the wine and liqueur production.
|Unique benefits of property||We offer comfortable accommodation with quality fittings. We have a heated pool (10m x 5m). The location is peaceful, tranquil and relaxing. We are dog friendly, by appointment.|

Chez Penny was a lovely spacious clean and attractive cottage - perfect for a mature couple with a dog. Steve and Deb were so warm and accommodating as hosts with a wealth of local knowledge they cared a great deal that we had everything we needed at every turn. We made great use of the BBQ in the evenings and the facilities were all modern and if a high quality. The grounds were so spacious and such an idyllic setting for the pool which I practically lived in during our stay! It was such a wonderful size and temperature - exactly what we wanted from a private pool which can be quite hard to come across. We were sad when our 2 weeks came to an end and we already miss it including the adorable Barney and Nachos. Thanks for such a lovely holiday and we hope to return.
we arrived at Chez Penny to warm and friendly welcome, when we went into the cottage we were greeted by a lovely food basket containing fresh bread, cheese, etc bottle wine and cold beer in the fridge which was much appreciated. The photos on the website were lovely but when you walk in you are amazed at how much work and love Steve and Debbie must of put in to get it to the highest standard that it is. Soon as you walk in it has a French feel to it, it very spacious, cool and the bathroom with the rainforest shower is to die for. It is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for your holiday and more. The grounds are like a mini park with all trees, flowers and the various seeting dotted around for you to soak up the atmosphere and it is that relaxing my husband fell asleep on several occasions. The pool similar to the grounds and cottage is amazing, it is clean and an excellent size for swimming or just floating about relaxing, or to lay on the side of the pool soaking up the sun on the sun loungers or chairs provided. Steve and Debbie are very knowledgeable of the area and what is happening, they gave us lots of ideas and information on where and what to see. The dogs Barney and Nacho are so adorable and were a pleasure to be around. If you are looking to rent a cottage in a rural setting of France where you just want peace and tranquility you won't find a better place to spend your holiday. Thank you Steve and Debbie for a fantastic time at your cottage.
An amazing week at Chez Penny! This gite, the grounds and the surrounding area are absolutely stunning. Set in a peaceful rural location, it really is the best place to relax and unwind. However, if you want to get out and about, there are lots of options such as visiting the local villages, towns, walking and cycling routes, local French markets, kayaking down the Vienne and many places to eat and drink! The owners Debbie and Steve could not have been more helpful with providing suggestions for us, they went above and beyond (and then some) to make our week incredible.
The accommodation is one of the best we’ve stayed in: spotlessly clean, comfortable, well equipped and has an authentic relaxing French feel to it. The gite has a private garden and decking area that we spent many an evening drinking wine and watching the sun go down. I couldn’t recommend this place more and would love to return in the future.
Jenni and Dave were the perfect guests. They were an absolute pleasure to have as our first guests in our newly renovated gite. They were very appreciative of any suggestions or information we provided and they always provided feedback on activities they did. They enjoyed their own enclosed garden and deck but also felt comfortable enough to socialise with us on an evening when we were around. On leaving the property (they had had Lola, their collie cross with them all week), they left the property in absolutely spotless condition and we couldn't have asked for a nicer start to our gite rental experience.
