Our villa is a recently built (2008) family property ideal for family groups or couples. It is both comfortable and practical with good kitchen facilities and equipment. It has a large sunny south facing garden and pool area, and also a shaded terrace.
We (Chris & Kathy) bought this new-build villa in 2008. We loved the convenience of Carcassonne's location and the variety of landscapes offered by the Aude region of Languedoc Roussillon France: Whether you decide to drive, cycle or hike, Aude offers lovers of stunning countryside the full range of scenery from the Cabardès vineyards in the north, the eastern coastal lowlands of Narbonne, the high valleys of the Pyrenees foothills in the south, to the hills and valleys which open to the Toulouse region in the west. Aude is also the home of the historical Cathar castles and serious hikers staying at our villa have the challenge of the Cathar Trail on their doorstep.
There is a very large Carrefour just up the road about 5 minutes in the car.
In the village there are also a Patisserie (bread), Boucherie (meat), a bar/restaurant, and a vets

|Year property purchased||2008|
|Why this location?||It is a small village with plenty to do, not too far to visit other places & obviously Carcassonne is a must do.|
|Unique benefits of property||Our villa is situated close to the village. You don't need to walk far to get your daily baguette & croissants which is always a must. It is in a very quiet area so relaxing by the pool is easy & yet only a 15 minute drive to Carcassonne.|
The famous Canal du Midi is just 5 minutes away. The tree-lined canal path is ideal for a leisurely walk or just to sit and watch the boats go by. Alternatively, sample its tranquillity on a boat trip from the Ville Basse.
Carcassonne is two cities in one separated by the Aude river which flows down from the high Pyrenees. This is a must visit for children and adults alike. No matter what time of year you visit Carcassonne, there’s always something to do. Highlights from the year-round list of events include: Jazz Week – Beginning of April Carcassonne Festival - July, August The Cité Médiévale Set Ablaze - 14 July Carcassonne celebrates Southern cultures (from 19 to 22 August) Events in December The Aude departement of the Languedoc Roussillon region of France is the heart of Cathar country. Carcassonne is the most famous and fully restored Cathar castle. The remains of other castles and walled cities stand on high promontories and rocky outcrops along the Cathar castle trail which are steeped in the history of the middle ages and the Catholic crusade against this heretical sect.
For cyclists there are many marked cycle routes and the mountains provide a test for the more committed. The Canal du Midi is a gentler alternative for the less athletic cyclist.
For the ‘outdoor types’, riding stables are 10 minutes away, as is the par 71 Carcassonne golf course. The villa is situated an hour and a half from the forested lower slopes of the Pyrenees so are very well placed for skiing in the winter or hiking in the summer.
If you prefer to shop alfresco, Carcassonne has a general market on Tuesday and Thursday with a large market in the main square on Saturday morning.
50km north of Carcassonne is the south-west edge of the Parc Naturel Regional du Haut Languedoc, represented by the Montagne Noire (Black Mountains), providing scenic drives and challenging hiking terrain.
A thoroughly lovely villa, an excellent location, a beautiful pool, we didn't want to come home. Thanks so much!
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay & hope to see you again.
We would highly recommend CLK. It has all the mod cons and comforts of home and is spotlessly clean and modern. The pool is a massive wow as when the sun shines in Carcasonne you need to cool off. The villa is in a small village with lovely views of the Black Hills and in the distance on a clear day you can see the mountains topped with snow. There is something for every-one both at the villa and in the surrounding countryside. Lovely walks, a beach area, wonderful restaurants and bars and the village is the real France. Allow plenty of time to enjoy the city of Carcasonne it is beautiful and so much to see. If you wish to venture further afield a car is recommended but there are plenty of buses (which run on time) and local taxi firms. The airport is only 10 minutes away but being small there is no aircraft noise. (Pleae note there is not a duty free shop at the airport). We will be returning.....it is a wonderful holiday destination. The booking is made so easy as Kathy is very helpful and always willing to answer any questions.
We are glad that you enjoyed your stay at Villa CLK & that you were able to appreciate the surrounding area. Hope to see you again soon.
