I bought this house in 2005 because my wife and I, like many others, fell in love with the village and its friendly welcoming residents, we visit as often as we can however as I have my own motorcycle repair business we don't get to visit as often as we would like and therefore thought that by letting it we would give others the opportunity to stay in this beautiful village in a wonderful part of France.

Lagrasse - has the site of one of the largest Benedictine abbeys in the South of France the Abbaye Sainte-Marie d'Orbieu and is well worth a visit to experience the wealth of architectural features dating back to 13 century Minerve - has been selected as one the most beautiful villages of France. Historically, the village has been the capital of the Minervois wine region. The main bridge leading into the village is closed to all vehicles not owned by residents of Minerve and there is a car park nearby. Of all of the original fortifications, only a slender octagonal tower, known locally as the Candela, survives but there is plenty to see. The village is situated on top of the gorge of the River Cesse in a naturally strong defensive position. Near the village the river disappears underground in a large, naturally-carved tunnel Lastours - Since the Middle-Ages, Lastours constitutes a harmonious site with four castles at 300 metres altitude, at the top of a mountain spur. Cabaret, Surdespine, Quertineux and Tour Regine overlook the Orbiel stream and Grézilhou torrent, which are deep in the valley. The most ancient remains go back to the Middle-Bronze Age at around 1500 years B.C: the tomb of a young girl known as "the princess with the necklace” was found in a cave. Her body was covered with objects such as amber pearls and jewellery evoking Mycenaean or Egyptian art. This site is not the most accessible of the Cathar castles nor the most spectacular, but this adds to the experience because the site hasn't been extensively restored. Abbey Fontfoide - is steeped in history The Cistercian abbey was founded in 1093 is situated close to Narbonne. It is well preserved with church, cloister, 12th century chapter house and lay clergy building. When there visit the Gustave Fayet museum, with its rose and terraced gardens open in summer. You may also enjoy a tasting of the Corbières AOC abbey's wine or a meal in the restaurant. Guided tours are also available
Mellow Velos will hire out bikes and will deliver them to Ma Maison. A tour guide can also be arranged. The house has a garage for safe storage of the bikes.
The restaurants in Bize minervois are Jean Marc - located at the end of the road. Le Grange a close walk away, Cafe du Midi in the village and a small drive away or walk across the vineyards is La Sellette.
Beaches are about 35km away Narbonne Plage with its miles of sandy beach and sea front restaurants and Guissan.
A real home from home, very clean & comfortable, everything you need is here right in the middle of beautiful scenery. A short stroll to the left of the house takes you on a truly stunning pine forest walk that can be as long or a short as you want with fab views of Bize Menovoir down below. The village itself is outstandingly beautiful. Several places to eat & drink, 2 patisseries & a small supermarket. This is a great base property for visiting other places. There is an extensive information folder in the lounge with some amazing places to visit. Carcassonne, Cite de Minerve, Narbonne, Fabrezan, Capestang, Abbey de Fontcude, The Village of Books in Montolieu, Narbonne plage & many more stunning beaches. So much to see & do. We also walked through the pine forest through the village, passing by the cemetery. Amazing views. The owner Sean, is exceptionally hospitable, along with the manageress Jill. We were also very lucky to have fantastic weather, so somedays we just chilled out in the garden, enjoying the peace & quiet & walked to the village for a meal later in the evening. Don't miss out on such an outstanding experience. Thank you Sean for letting us enjoy an experience we will never forget.
Thank you, for such a lovely review. I am really pleased you enjoyed the area, the village and our home as much as my wife and I do. There is a lot to see and it looks like you saw a lot .... thanks once again Sean.
A beautiful large house, well equipped with everything you could need. The hosts were lovely to deal with and very communicative. The village is small and fairly quiet considering it was peak holiday season. Everyone we met was very friendly. The children loved the river swimming and also the English TV as well as the abundance of board games and garden area to play in. We adults loved the vineyards, many quiet roads for cycling and the historic town of Minerve. Close enough to Narbonne for a couple of beach days and Carcasonne for more sightseeing. We really can't recommend this property enough!
Thank you Colin, I am delighted to hear that you and your family had a wonderful holiday. Kind regards Sean
We had a lovely time. This is a nice house in a delightful French village and far from the madding crowd. The house itself is clean, well maintained, and well equipped.
There are a few local restaurants if you don't feel like cooking or barbecuing yourself.
River swimming is less than 200 metres away. 40 minutes will get to to the coast and there is a lake near Homps (lac de Joarres) approx 15 minutes away by car.
The owners are very helpful and a delight to deal with.
We will definitely recommend this to all of our family and friends and will return ourselves in the future.
Thank you, I am really pleased that you all enjoyed your stay and Iook forward to welcoming you again one day.
Enjoyed our stay in a town house which felt very much like a home from home . The location was ideal for hill walks from the front door and easy access into Bize without using the car . English TV is a big plus after sightseeing all day .
The owner's communications were excellent and friendly and the local contacts are easily contactable if needed .
Thank you for your kind comments. I am pleased you enjoyed your stay.
