Maison Tranquil is a superbly renovated barn with stunning lake views set in over 3.5 acres of private grounds. Set in the heart of vineyards in the beautiful Razes region of the Languedoc. Surrounded by medieval Cathar Chateaux, just 20 mins from the bastide medieval town of Mirepoix and beautiful riverside town of Limoux. Carcassonne with its UNESCO world heritage castle and airport are only 30 minutes away, it’s a truly stunning rural location however very accessible.
 
With large, light and airy communal spaces totalling 350m2, the house accommodates a total of 15 guests in 6 bedrooms, predominantly available as a self catered or catered holiday let. (By request we can accommodate a maximum of 18 guests as a 7th en suite bedroom is available, please contact us for more details).
 
We also offer various informative, relaxing weekend breaks such as yoga, life coaching and writing courses. Andrea is a qualified aromatherapist and masseuse, with treatments available on site if required.
 
Fully or part catered packages also available.  We accommodate cycling and hiking tour groups.
 
The 3.5 acres of private terraced gardens host a beautiful child friendly gated pool area with pool house, a games area, petanque court, and of course stunning terraces to soak up the meditteranean sun and magical views, Maison Tranquil is just that….

First floor
The first floor boasts 5 en suite bedrooms all leading off the galleried hallway that wraps around the house. Bedrooms 1-3 are either king or queen beds, bedroom 4 is twin singles (which can be put together as a king) with bedroom 5 hosting twin single beds and bunk beds, ideal as a children’s room. Layout can be changed to accommodate individual requirements with day beds and cots available for little people.
 
Ground floor
The ground floor is centred around the stunning dining room with open fireplace and bespoke 4m oak dining table, there is ample seating for even the grandest banquet a great space for big get togethers.
 
Leading off the dining room are 2 comfortable reception rooms with wood burning stoves, perfect for evening socialising in cooler months and escaping the mediterranean sun in the summer. Also off the dining room is the stunning kitchen/breakfast room with all mod cons, dishwasher, microwave oven, range oven, kitchen island, it even boasts it’s own wood burning pizza oven.
 
There is a utility room/pantry and direct access to parking so offloading food and wine is easy. There is a breakfast table that seats 6-8 people and access to the garden.
 
Also on the ground floor is bedroom 6 with a queen bed, day bed and a private bathroom, perfect for mobility impaired guests that would prefer ground floor accommodation. In addition there is bedroom 7, a queen en suite bedroom available only by request.
 
Outside
The dining room and kitchen lead out onto the sun soaked terraces with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and of course the lake. There are plenty of shaded areas, in addition to tables and chairs for al fresco dining and a bbq. A few steps lead down to the large private gardens and lawns with petanque court, children’s play area and sand pit. Through a secure gated area is a beautiful outside pool approx 10x5m, with island and shallow steps, perfect for children learning to swim, it is also alarmed to French AFNOR standards. There are plenty of lounge chairs available to soak up the sun and a pool house to relax in.

Why this location? A stunning region of France, rural enough to be fabulously tranquil, yet easily accessible from several major airports. Local amenities on hand. Skiing in the Pyrenees or a day on any one of some lovely Mediterranean beaches both an hour away.
Unique benefits of property Magical scenery with stunning south facing views from the house and grounds of the lake and local countryside. All bedrooms with private bathrooms, 2 on the ground floor perfect for mobility impaired guests. We have little ones and have travelled with them and are perfectly set up with that in mind.
