This Gite is situated in the the driest and sunniest area of France, the Aude valley. It is within 25 minutes of the Mediterranean beaches, Pyrennes and Central Massif. 45 minutes from Carcassonne and situated in the small village of Ginestas. The property is in an elevated quiet location with magnificent views over the village and vineyards to the Montagne Noir.
The Canal du Midi is a relaxing walk through the vineyards. The pretty village has a boulangerie, a bar, restaurant, bank, pharmacy and is well endowed with wine caves for which the heavy reds are well known and very available. Within 5 minutes drive there is a supermarket, petrol/diesel and within 20 minutes is the city of Narbonne with its canal, cathedral and fabulous 7 day indoor food market with every imaginable produce inside. Within a very short distance there are numerous facilities and activities whether you are interested in culture, sport, hiking, canoeing, eating, drinking you will find plenty to do.
Kitchen - Ample work surface with built in ceramic hob, breakfast bar, microwave/grill, refrigerator with ice box and loads of cupboard space plus utensils
Living Area - Is open plan with the kitchen area and features a settee, coffee-table and ambient lighting and leads out through large bi-fold doors to the patio. There is also a stereo loudspeaker set to plug into your media player.
Bedroom - Spacious room with double Bed (not old french mattress) with a beamed ceiling leading to modern bathroom. Walk-in wardrobe with more than enough space for half a dozen Ryanair travellers. There is a double USB charging point close to the bed as well as a double English socket, so no need to bring an adaptor.
Bathroom - Features a large walk-in shower, basin and toilet which has been completely modernised. Good view as well! - just look at our comments on our website

Wi-fi access is via the main house router, a router repeater is installed. You will be provided with a pass code. This is located in the front of the information pack in the Gite.
No tv, you really won't need it!
Patio - is a 16 sq. M decking which features a 6ft diameter wine barrel plunge pool overlooking the Aude valley with views of the Montagne Noir and beyond. Adjacent are numerous olive trees and the decking has edible grape vines. Lie back on the sun loungers or cool off in the plunge pool and pluck a grape or two!
Plunge Pool - Cool off in the plunge pool, designed to resemble a large wine barrel. From the pool you have excellent views overlooking the village of Ginestas and its clock tower, to the Montagne Noir and foothills of the Cevennes in the distance and to our small olive grove.
Barbeque - Outdoor charcoal barbeque for cooking local delicacies e.g. duck breasts or perhaps a range of local seafood.
Olive grove area also available for you to enjoy.
Ample parking to the rear of the Gite.
Not suitable for wheelchair access and Gite is on 2 levels.
Green - The Gite is all electric and the main house has an array of photovoltaic cells generating electricity. We generate a lot more than we use each year.
The Gite has a number of olive trees close by that are actively used in producing our own olives for eating and oil.
Just a short 2 minute walk away!!
Down the drive, up the small hill and you can walk all day as far as you want through the vineyards and along the Canal du Midi. Take a picnic or stop at numerous restaurants along the canal.
The Gite was originally a detached annexe to the house and consisted of a small bathroom and bedroom. We have in 2013 extended the Annexe to form a Gite and we now have a living area of approx 30 sq. metres as well as a patio of 16 sq. metres with a plunge pool. We will continue to improve our property as we love this area so much that it seemed a shame for the then annexe to be unoccupied when it can be a

The Canal du Midi is about 1 kilometre away from the Gite and is a pleasant gentle walk along the Chemin de la Garde and you can turn left at the canal and walk to the pretty village of Le Somail with a few restaurants or turn right to Ventenac with its pretty port and its elegant Cave and restaurants
