|Why this location?||French people say that a property chooses you, Bordebasse chose us, however the Sunshine, incredible views over the valley the Pyrenees acting as a magical backdrop and the feeling of calm in the courtyard made us want to stay.|
|Unique benefits of property||Most holiday properties are beautiful and have a lovely pool, we have both of these but also have a jewel in the crown with our magnificent lake and of course the art studio where we offer guests to opportunity to part take in an introduction to painting lesson if they so wish.|
There are many fabulous restaurants to be found in the area, most are perfect for that quick French meal, however for something special we are happy to recommend:
La Table Cathare in Fanjeaux.
Relais Mirepoix - Fine dining, beautiful location at very resonable prices.
L'abbeye du Camon - Excellent atmosphere, keen prices and 1st class food.
La Flambe - typical French cuisine.
La Marche Gourmand in Lerean on a friday evening in the summer months only is a street market with entertainment, here you can buy good food from street vendors, sit on a long trestle table and enjoy local wine and beers.
All these are very close to us.
What a lovely holiday house!
It was spacious and well equipped and we were made to feel very welcome by the owner, Gill.
We were there as two families of four, with two teenage children per family - there was plenty of room.
The house is in a lovely rural location with views to die for but is remote from any reasonable village. It's a 15 minute drive to the nearest bakers, for example.
I can recommend Mirepoix as a superb medieval town to visit and lunch in. Kayaking in Le Vernet was excellent value. And the caves near Foix (I forget the name but you visit by boat) were superb.
The church at Vals is nearby and very interesting; what else would you do with a huge cracked boulder?
It goes without saying that you should visit as many of the Cathar castles as you can bear.
We had a lovely and relaxing week.
